SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Stewards today inquired into a report of an incident that occurred at Callaghan Park Racecourse on Saturday 7th April 2007 regarding the thoroughbred horse AIM UP being left unsupervised on the horse walking machine for some considerable time.

J Unwin, the trainer of AIM UP, pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR175 (o) (1) in that he failed to exercise reasonable care, control or supervision of a horse. J Unwin’s license was disqualified for a period of three (3) months to commence immediately and to expire midnight 26th July 2007.

As M Bennett, failed to fulfil his riding engagements at today’s meeting he was replaced as per steward’s summary. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter to a date and time to be fixed.

Race 1: BACARDI RUM CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
1st – CAMPUS BLUE 2nd – QUEEN BIRD 3rd – DON’T TELL THE WIFE 4th – SHE’S NOTABLE

REELIN AND ROCKING (D Johnston) and SHE’S NOTABLE (M Cant) were both slow to begin.

SEA OF KNOWLEDGE (S Quick) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Both DON’T TELL THE WIFE (App C McIver) and DANGER SIGN (App E Hooper) after jumping away were slow into stride.

SHE’S NOTABLE (M Cant) commenced to over race approaching the 1100m and had to restrained off the heels of KALINGA BLAZE (App M McDonald).

SHE’S NOTABLE (M Cant) shifted out near the 400m taking CARPET BURN (W Morris) and DANGER SIGN (App E Hooper) wider on the track.

DANGER SIGN (App E Hooper), SEA OF KNOWLEDGE (S Quick) and CARPET BURN (W Morris) all raced wide for the majority of the race.

Stewards charged C Whiteley, the rider of SUPREME ASCOT, with careless riding under the provisions of AR137 (a) in that near the 1100m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CAMPUS BLUE (App A Coome) forcing that runner in making contact with FRENCH FROTH (L Morrison) which as a result shifted in making contact with KALINGA BLAZE (App McDonald) which had to be checked and shift in making contact with the inside running rail. After taking further evidence from C Whiteley, the rider of SUPREME ASCOT and App A Coome, the rider of CAMPUS BLUE, C Whiteley was given the benefit of a grave doubt and no further action was taken.

A veterinary examination of REELIN AND ROCKING which compounded in the home straight failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2: TRIM GYM OPEN H’CAP – 1600M
1st – TYCOON TED 2nd – DOUBLE RUM 3rd – LOVE GOD 4th – EARS TO VICTORY

MELLING (L Morrison) jumped in the air at the start causing its rider to become momentarily unbalanced.

EARS TO VICTORY (C Whiteley) had a tendency to lay in leaving the 1100m.

TYCOON TED (D Johnston) and DOUBLE RUM (M Barnham) both shifted ground under pressure and made contact near the finish line.

Race 3: WAYNE DANIELS PHARMAC MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
1st – KENNELLY 2nd – GLENDALE PRIDE 3rd – FUHRNOW 4th – LILY OF THE WEST

App P Randall, who failed to arrive on course, was replaced as the rider of DEABELLA by senior rider D Evans as no apprentice rider was available. Steward’s adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why apprentice P Randall failed to fulfil his riding engagement to a date and time to be fixed.

DEABELLA (D Evans) and BEG MY PARDON (App L Dillon) were both slow to begin.

KENNELLY (M Cant) began awkwardly.

JUZANA (L Morrison) knuckled over shortly after the start.

TATT’S ENOUGH (App E Hooper) became unbalanced near the 550m and shifted wider on the track.

CHERRY BABY (App C McIver) raced wide for the majority of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of GO PUKKA, revealed the gelding to be lame in its off front fetlock. G Taylor, the trainer of GO PUKKA, was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness must be provided prior to the horse being permitted to trial or race again.

Race 4: FRENCHVILLE SPORTS CLUB QTIS CLUB 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – OOPS SORRY 2nd – KAI ANNA 3rd – ALL THAT CASH 4th – WENON ROSE

Stewards permitted KAI ANNA to race in winkers instead of blinkers on advice from L Applewaite, stable representative for trainer D Badham claiming the incorrect gear being displayed and bearing mind the horse’s best possible chance. This information was relayed via the course broadcast. While agreeing to her request steward’s advised L Applewaite this matter would be further investigated.

The start was delayed when a veterinary examination of BALLINDALLOCH revealed a significant amount of blood being found in the mouth of BALLINDALLOCH, due to concerns of the horse’s welfare, BALLINDALLOCH was declared a late scratching at 2.37pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on BALLINDALLOCH were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. A further veterinary examination of BALLINDALLOCH revealed the horse to have a laceration to its mouth which was brought to the attention of F Smith, the trainer of that runner.

ROYAL COUNCEL (App E Hooper), FOREVER PALS (S Quick) and ZERANTE (C Whiteley) were all tightened for room at the start between DANS OUR MAN (App C McIver) which jumped outwards and ALL THAT CASH (App L Dillon) which jumped inwards.

COMET’S KINGDOM (L Morrison) and KAI ANNA (D Evans) both began awkwardly.

ROYAL COUNCEL (App E Hooper) commenced to over race near the 700m for a short distance.

Race 5: STORM FINANCIAL CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – TINY TOO 2nd – JEWEL SPEED 3rd – LEA LISA 4th – PIMPALA ZAR

The start was delayed when JEWEL SPEED dislodged its rider; apprentice A Coome enroute to the barrier’s giving him a harmless fall and cantering a short distance. After having its saddle readjusted and being examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon JEWEL SPEED was cleared to start.

SPEEDEX (L Morrison) began awkwardly and shifted outwards and then raced wide for the majority of the event.

SACRED HARMONY (App E Hooper) began awkwardly and was further hampered by SEQUALO BLUE (App L Dillon) which jumped outwards.

PIMPALA ZAR lost its off hind plate during the race.

Jockey C Whiteley was severely reprimanded in regards to his conduct towards an official when being requested to proceed to the saddling enclosure to take his mount and advised this conduct would not be tolerated in future.
Race 6: THE MORNING BULLITEN CLASS 3 PLATE – 1800M
1st – PEGUNNY BOSS 2nd – CASH ‘N’ GO 3rd – LADY SHABANG 4th – TARA GOLD

Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer A Stephens into the reason why D Evans was a late declaration as the rider of LADY SHABANG.

LADY SHABANG (D Evans) jumped outwards at the start making heavy contact with WHERE’S THE SPARK (App C McIver) which lost ground.

ARROWIN (M Cant) lost ground at the start when tightened for room between STRATEGIC WIN (N Evans) which jumped outwards and TARA GOLD (C Whiteley) which jumped inwards.

MERDEX (App L Dillon) began awkwardly and threw its head in the air for a short distance after the start.

TARA GOLD (C Whiteley) raced wide in the early stages of the event.

App C McIver, the rider of WHERE’S THE SPARK, dropped his whip near the 300m.

A post race veterinary examination of STRATEGIC WIN which compounded in the home straight revealed the gelding to have an elevated respiratory condition and slight cough indicating a possible respiratory disorder. D Critch, the trainer of STRATEGIC WIN was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness must be obtained prior to the horse being permitted to trial or race again.

Race 7: CAPRICORN REWIND ELECTRICAL SERVICES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – REAF SHAR BAYE 2nd – STARRY DANCER 3rd – MY LION ANGEL 4th – WHAT A KASE

KALINGA MEDAL (App M McDonald) and GOLDEN POINT (L Morrison) were both slow to begin.

MY LION ANGEL (J Stephens) shifted in near the 900m inconveniencing REAF SHAR BAYE (C Whiteley) which shifted in crowding the running of RUBIES AND GOLD (C Beets) which inturn shifted in tightening the running of WHAT A KASE (App A Coome) which had to be steadied.
J Stephens, the rider of MY LION ANGEL was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

Race 8: HERITAGE HOTEL CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
1st – DANWANA 2nd – KALINGA COUNTY 3rd – CARBENIE 4th – OCTONE

KING OF SPURS (W Morris) shifted out near the 400m taking both BOB’S PRIDE (J Stephens) and STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) wider on the track.

STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) and KING OF SPURS (W Morris) bumped near the 50m when both horses shifted ground under pressure.
