SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

RE: Friday Rockhampton Jockey Club 27th March 2007

Stewards today inquired into the reason why subsequent to the running of the Class 3 Plate 1800 metres at the Rockhampton Jockey Club meeting 27 April 2007, LADY SHABANG, carried an incorrect weight. Evidence was taken from A Stephens, the trainer of LADY SHABANG, and the inquiry was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.

D Badham, through his stable representative was fined the sum of $200.00 under the provisions of AR140B (2) in that he failed to obtain permission from stewards prior to adding Winkers, to the gear of KAI ANNA in the running of race 4 on that day.

Race 1: CASTLEMAINE PERKINS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1600M
1st – NATURAL ENERGY 2nd – SPORTS ACADEMY 3rd – DANGER SIGN 4th – LIGHTON

As no apprentice rider was available steward’s permitted senior rider, B Pengelly, to replace apprentice D Carrigg as the rider of NATURAL ENERGY.

NATURAL ENERGY (B Pengelly), LADY SHABANG (J Stephens), REUBENS GOLD (N Evans) and SPORTS ACADEMY (A Spinks) were all tightened for room at the start between DANGER SIGN (App L Dillon) which jumped outwards and CORSO VANNUCCI (P Hammersley) which jumped inwards.

CASH ‘N’ GO (App T Bannon) jumped outwards at the start.

Approaching the 800m CARPET BURN (L Morrison) became unbalanced and had to be steadied, DANGER SIGN (App L Dillon) which was following improved onto that runners heels and had to be checked, LADY SHABANG (J Stephens) which was racing to the outside of DANGER SIGN was steadied as a result.

LIGHT AFTER DARK (M Cant) raced wide for the majority of the race.

DANGER SIGN (App L Dillon) lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

LADY SHABANG faltered near the 800m and as a result of its injuries was euthanized on humane grounds.

Race 2: XXXX BITTER QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1000M
1st – WATER CAPTAIN 2nd – DONQUALO 3rd – OOPS SORRY 4th – KING OF SPIRIT

MISS KEPPEL (App C McIver) which was slow to begin was further hampered at the start by KING OF SPIRIT (A Spinks) which jumped inwards.

OOPS SORRY (C Whiteley) jumped in at the start making contact with WENONA ROSE (C Beets).

DONQUALO (M Evans) shifted in shortly after the start crowding KING OF SPIRIT (A Spinks) which was racing greenly and as a result had to be restrained and lose ground. M Evans, the rider of DONQUALO was advised to show more care when shifting ground.

WATER CAPTAIN (B Pengelly) had tendency to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

A Spinks, the rider of KING OF SPIRIT, reported to stewards that his saddle shifted near the 50m placing him at a disadvantage.

Race 3: HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M
1st – INNOCENT HARRY 2nd – DARUBLA 3rd – TRUE GENERAL 4th – WINONA BRAVE

BRAGGIN RIGHTS (App C McIver) began awkwardly and then had to be steadied when tightened for room between ADMIRAL’S AMANTE (App L Dillon) and WINONA BRAVE (App A Coome) which both shifted ground.

OUR GENERAL (A Spinks) shifted in near the 600m causing KENNELLY (M Cant) to be steadied and inturn shift in crowding INNOCENT HARRY (M Evans) which had to be steadied and as a result commenced to race ungenerously.

Approaching the 500m OUR GENERAL (A Spinks) shifted in crowding KENNELLY (M Cant), a short distance later KENNELLY shifted in inconveniencing INNOCENT HARRY (M Evans) which had to be restrained, DARUBLA (L Morrison) which was following was momentarily steadied as a result. Both A Spinks, the rider OUR GENERAL and M Cant, the rider of KENNELLY were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.


Race 4: TOOHEYS NEW CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – SUBSEQUENCE 2nd – HARD WOOD FOREST 3rd – REVOLVA 4th – FAULT LINE

FAULT LINE (D Johnston) began awkwardly and shortly after when being restrained its saddle shifted forward placing its rider at a disadvantage.

EASY DANCING (A Spinks) was momentarily crowded for room over the concluding stages between FAULT LINE (D Johnston) and REVOLVA (B Pengelly) which shifted out under pressure.

Race 5: HEINEKEN CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – ELLE’S ANGEL 2nd – DROP OF HENNESSY 3rd – IN JEOPARDY 4th – JEWEL SPEED

JEWEL SPEED (App C McIver) knuckled over on jumping away.

Approaching the 1000m JEWEL SPEED (App C McIver) had to be steadied and shift out to avoid the heels of ELLE’S ANGEL (App T Bannon) which shifted in. Apprentice T Bannon, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances and was further advised that stewards would be referring her riding tactics to QR apprentice instructor Mr A Russell.

IN JEOPARDY (L Morrison) was steadied near the 800m when momentarily crowded for room by DROP OF HENNESEY (A Spinks) which shifted in.

CALL SECURITY (P Hammersley) raced wide for the majority of the event.

On returning to scale a protest was lodged by L Morrison, the rider of 3RD placegetter,
IN JEOPARDY, against DROP OF HENNESSEY (A Spinks) being declared 2ND, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol film, stewards found that DROP OF HENNESSY shifted in under pressure momentarily hampering IN JEOPARDY, bearing in mind the amount of interference, the close proximity of the winning post and the margin, stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. At a subsequent inquiry, A Spinks, the rider of DROP OF HENNESSY, was reminded of his obligation to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. L Morrison, the rider of IN JEOPARDY, was found guilty to a charge under AR165 (3) in that she lodged a frivolous protest and fined the sum of $100.00.

Race 6: HAHN SUPERDRY CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – REEF SHARK 2nd – CALL ME GUNYA 3rd – GOLDEN POINT 4th – JUST LIKE SEAGAL

ROCKY LAD (C Whiteley) jumped inwards at the start bumping BEACH COOKIE (A Spinks).

REEF SHARK (B Pengelly) began awkwardly.

BEACH COOKIE (A Spinks) commenced to race ungenerously leaving the 900m and shifted out causing JUST LIKE SEAGAL (J Stephens) to shift out making contact with the hind quarters of KENYA KEEP A SECRET (L Morrison) which inturn shifted out forcing CAPTAIN STEVE (M Cant) wider on the track.

TOTALLY INNOCENT (App C McIver) shifted out abruptly near the 80m making contact with CALEDONIAN CLASS (App L Dillon).

Race 7: XXXX GOLD CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – DANZAMONKEY 2nd – FAT QUARTERS 3rd – JACARANDA CHARM 4th – MR CRISTI

MR CRISTI (App L Dillon) began awkwardly and lost ground.

DANZAMONKEY (B Pengelly) jumped in at the start making contact with JACARANDA CHARM (App A Coome) which shifted in causing RAW ABILITY (App C McIver) which was slow to begin to be steadied.

JACARANDA CHARM (App A Coome) shifted in near the 1000m causing CLOSED OUT (M Cant) to shift in resulting in DON HERNANDO (P Hammersley) being steadied when taken across the heels of DECEIVING (C Whiteley).

FAT QUARTERS (D Evans) shifted in near the 900m hampering MY LION ANGEL (J Stephens).

DECEIVING (C Whiteley) commenced to over race leaving the 900m and near the 800m shifted out crowding MICHIGAN AVENUE (App T Bannon) which had to restrained and as a result caused its saddle to slip to its near side placing its rider at a disadvantage and shift out making contact with MY LION ANGEL (J Stephens) which had to be restrained and shift wider on the track when becoming awkward on the heels of FAT QUARTERS (D Evans). MY LION ANGEL was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the race. As stewards were of the opinion that no one rider could be held responsible no further action was taken.

FAT QUARTERS (D Evans) raced wide for the majority of the race.
