Race 1: BFB Scaffolding QTIS 3yo H’cap - 1300 metres
1st Goldslick 2nd Massuri 3rd Spotted Eagle 4th- Misty Rocket

Stewards interviewed trainer P. Fleming regarding the circumstances surrounding the nomination of CRAIGLEA COBRA, CRAIGLEA HUSSY and CRAIGLEA ROMEO for this event and subsequent scratching of CRAIGLEA ROMEO. After taking evidence from Mr Fleming, stewards accepted the explanation provided.

MISTY ROCKET (A. Spinks) was slow to begin.

GOLDSLICK (A. Pattillo) began awkwardly and shifted out, hampering CRAIGLEA HUSSY (A. Taylor).

MASSURI (A. Coome) overraced in the early and middle stages.

A post race veterinary examination CRAIGLEA COBRA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 2: Greensteel Pty Ltd Class 3 Plate - 1300m
1st Sheer Echelon 2nd Hussana 3rd Criaglea Gal 4th- Sequiz

BOSE (A. Spinks) and HUSSANA (T. Bannon) were both slow to begin.

MALEATON (S. Sheargold) was momentarily held up for clear running on entering the straight.

Leaving the 600m, HUSSANA (T. Bannon) was held up for clear running until a point near the 400m, at which stage it shifted out across the heels of MERRY MISS (A. Pattillo) in order to obtain clear running, and in doing so made heavy contact with WE WILL ROCK (C. Pye).

SEQUIZ (T. O'Hara) and BOSE raced wide throughout the race.

Stewards questioned rider T. O’Hara regarding the riding tactics adopted on SEQUIZ, in particular during the early stages of the race when there appeared to be an opportunity for her to improve to a position outside the leader. Miss O’Hara stated that the horse had previously raced in a more forward position, however that was due to the horse being racing fresh from a let up. She stated that the instructions today were if possible to find cover, sitting just off the lead. T. O’Hara added that in view of these instructions she allowed runners to her inside to improve in order for her to find cover, however she was not able to achieve this and was obliged to race in a 3-wide position from this point onwards. Whilst noting her comments, stewards advised Miss O’Hara that she may have erred in not endeavouring to position outside the leader when that opportunity was available in the early stages.

Following the running of this race, A. Spinks reported that he had injured his wrist and as a result was not able to ride BOSE out in his usual manner. A. Spinks was subsequently examined by the club’s medical officer and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

A post race veterinary examination BOSE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 3: Inspirations Paint And Colour Maiden Plate - 1100m

CHICAMONI was declared a late scratching at 7.59 am. Trainer T. Pointon was fined $300 under AR68 for failing to scratch CHICOMONI by the prescribed time.

As A.Lane failed to arrive on course due to transport difficulties and no other rider was available, stewards declared NAZAR LAD a late scratching at 2.12 pm.

As a result of jockey A. Spinks being stood down due to injury in Race 2 and no other being available to ride WESTERN YOUR in this event, this runner was declared a late scratching at 2.19 pm by order of the stewards. As betting had not commenced, no deductions were applicable regarding both late scratchings.

LIBERTY’S MAGIC (S. Sheargold) and SOVEREIGN SPIRIT (A. Coome) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m, FOUND A TREASURE (C. Pye) laid out across the heels of TEAANNA LASS (J. Stephens) and was steadied.

Near the 800m, TRIBULATION (I. Coombes) was tightened for room and steadied when racing between CYCLONE BILLY (T. O'Hara) and TEAANNA LASS (J. Stephens), both of which shifted ground.

A. Coome, rider of SOVEREIGN SPIRIT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 650m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of SUGAR DIAMOND (M. Usher), which contributed to interference suffered to that runner. A. Coome was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 2 Capricornia meetings, to commence at midnight, 1 October and to expire at midnight, 6 October.

C. Priest, rider of BOSTON PRINCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 650m she permitted her mount to shift in near the 650m, which resulted in interference being suffered by SUGAR DIAMOND. ADOPA (I. Coombes) was caught wide near the 750m and then commenced to overrace for a short distance thereafter.

Leaving the 400m, WINCHMORE LASS (C. Priest) was disappointed for a run between HIGH PAYOFF (A. Coome) and MADDIE YO YO (T. Bannon), and a short distance later shifted out in order to improve around the heels of MADDIE YO YO (T. Bannon), resulting in TRY ANOTHER DORE (T. O'Hara), which was following, having to be steadied as a consequence. At a subsequent inquiry, C. Priest, rider of WINCHOMRE was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

T. O’Hara, rider of TRY ANOTHER DORE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 150m she permitted her mount to shift out under hard riding when not sufficiently clear of ADOPA (I. Coombes), causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful position. T. O’Hara was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 3 Capricornia meetings, to commence at midnight, 1 October and to expire at midnight, 13 October.

Subsequently, C.Pye did not wish to proceed and correct weight was subsequently semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

LE TOUR DE FRANCE (T. Bannon) knuckled at the start.

CLEAR DROP (A. Taylor) began awkwardly.

Near the 1400m, NAIL ‘EM (C. Pye) was steadied when tightened for room by DONOSTIA (S. Sheargold), which shifted in.

GOL (C. Pye) was fractious in the barriers.

ROCKET ON BY (T. Bannon) was slow to begin.
