Race 4 Trainer L. Challacombe reported that ROSE OF MAYHEM had pulled up shin sore and would now be sent for a spell.
Race 5 Trainer K. McGovern reported that SAVVY CHOICE may have got its tongue over the bit and choked down in running. It would be her intention to add a tongue tie for its next race start.
Race 6 Stewards made further inquiries regarding the gear declared for BEEN BROKE BEFORE. Pending any further submissions from trainer A. Albert, a fine of $100 would be imposed for failing to declare a gear change prior to acceptance.

Apprentice K. Gates was fined $100 for failing to supply a medical clearance.
Race 1: Thank You PCYC QTIS 3yo H’cap - 1400 metres
1st Goldslick 2nd Misty Rocket 3rd Into The Deep 4th- Spotted
MISTY ROCKET (C. Whiteley) was slow to begin.
SPOTTED EAGLE (C. Pye) jumped inwards at the start on to GOLDSLICK (A. Pattillo).
ALEXABAR (D. Tanti) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
SPOTTED EAGLE overraced in the early and middle stages.
KISS THIS SPOT (M. Hellyer) was inclined to lay in under pressure between the 200m and 100m.
Jockey C. Whiteley reported that MISTY ROCKET was inclined to hang in over the concluding stages.
Stewards questioned apprentice C. Pye regarding her instructions on SPOTTED EAGLE. Apprentice Pye stated she was instructed to take up a handy position with cover today if possible, and when the pace steadied in the middle stages, SPOTTED EAGLE commenced to overrace.
Race 2: XXXX Gold Class 3 H’cap - 1050 metres
1st Hallowed Pearl 2nd Gemmars Girl 3rd Bose 4th- Cocktail Rose
Stewards delayed correct weight to take evidence from jockey L. Dillon, starter Mr M. Henderson and barrier attendant Mr A. Jenkinson regarding LONG ROAD TO GLORY rearing and dislodging its rider at the start. It was noted that the mare, whilst fractious, had been standing well prior to the start being effected. Jockey Dillon advised that LONG ROAD TO GLORY had been assisted by a barrier attendant however, in his opinion; this had not affected the mare’s barrier manners. Mr Henderson and Mr Jenkinson agreed with jockey Dillon’s comments. Stewards subsequently found that LONG ROAD TO GLORY had not been impeded at the start and LONG ROAD TO GLORY was declared a runner. Trainer P. Pengelly will be advised that LONG ROAD TO GLORY will be required to satisfactorily pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
COCKTAIL ROSE (T. Bannon) jumped away awkwardly and was steadied from the heels of RED HUSSERATI (K. Gates) near the 900m, and was further steadied passing the 700m when it improved onto the heels of RED HUSSERATI.
GEMMARS GIRL (C. Pye) raced 3 wide throughout.
Race 3: Callaghan Park Open H’cap - 1050 metres
1st Huss 2nd White Cap 3rd Turf Music 4th- Snorkel
ROGERRAB (S. Watkin) and BLACK MORGAN (A. Coome) were fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
ROGERRAB was a little slow to begin.
BLACK MORGAN began a little awkwardly.
ROGERRAB raced 3 wide in the middle stages.
Stewards afforded A. Coome the opportunity of explaining the performance of BLACK MORGAN. A. Coome stated he was satisfied with the performance of the gelding today and whilst it sprinted well fresh at its previous start, he indicated that it may be looking for further distance in its races at this stage of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination of BLACK MORGAN failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 4: St Peter’s Caulfield Cup Day October 15 Class 6 Plate - 1200 metres
1st Craiglea Convict 2nd Dubaione 3rd Chubby 4th- Cane Champagne
FALVELIZABETH (C. Whiteley) slipped behind and blundered at the start.
LEICA ZED (S. Watkin) and SCHRAPNEL GULLY (A. Coome) also slipped behind and began awkwardly.
CHUBBY (S. Sheargold) and CANE CHAMPAGNE (K. Gates) raced 3 wide throughout.
Jockey S. Sheargold, rider of CHUBBY, was advised of his obligations regarding use of the whip and what may be deemed excessive.
Jockey A. Coome was questioned regarding the performance of SCHRAPNEL GULLY. A. Coome stated that after slipping at the start the gelding failed to stretch out and did not race comfortably throughout. He further added that SCHRAPNEL GULLY had raced flat today. Trainer T. Cook agreed with jockey Coome’s comments and advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
Jockey A. Pattillo reported to stewards that he had suffered the recurrence of a previous shoulder injury. Jockey Pattillo was examined by the ambulance officer and cleared to fulfil his engagements.
Race 5: XXXX Summer Bright Maiden H’cap - 1200 metres
1st Blazing Lion 2nd Western York 3rd Robert’s Gift 4th- Cyclone Billy
Stewards will inquire into the late scratching of DUAN HAPPYLASS.
ROBERT’S GIFT (K. Cross) jumped outwards at the start and bumped FOUND A TREASURE (N. Patchett) out on to the hind quarters of PESAMINO (C. Pye), which shifted in and further hampered FOUND A TREASURE.
Near the 900m, DOUBLE YOUR BAG (J. Stephens), when overracing on the heels of CYCLONE BILLY (S. Sheargold), shifted out, taking DELARGO SCENE (D. Tanti) and MANHATTAN DANCER (K. Gates) wider, and causing SUGAR DIAMOND (A. Butler) to be hampered.
FOUND A TREASURE had to be steadied near the 900m when it improved on to the heels of ROBERT’S GIFT (K. Cross), and then shortly after had to be restrained when placed in restricted room between WESTERN YORK (C. Whiteley) and ROBERT’S GIFT.
BLANC DE NOIRS (A Taylor), ROCK D’OR (M. Hellyer) and TWO TAIMZ TWICE (A Pattillo) raced wide throughout the event.
FOUND A TREASURE, which was pulled up in the straight, was found to have bled from both nostrils. The gelding would now be barred for a period of 3 months and required to gallop over 1000m prior to its next race start.
Trainer T McMahon reported TWO TAIMZ TWICE had lacerations to its near hind cannon, consistent with speedy cuts.
Race 6: Knight Frank Melbourne Cup Day November 1 Class 1 H’cap - 1200 metres
1st Parilla 2nd Kbengal 3rd Trepan 4th- Jazzshinko
BREAK OF DAWN (S. Watkin) was tightened for room and lost ground at the start between ALL SIGNIFICANT (M. Hellyer) and TREPAN (D. Tanti) when both horses shifted ground.
WINCHMORE LASS (K. Gates) began awkwardly and raced wide for the majority of the event.
TREPAN overraced in the middle stages.
Over the final 100m, PARILLA (A. Coome) commenced to shift out under pressure.
A post race veterinary examination of MAID OF FALVELON failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 7: Become a Member of the Rockhampton Jockey Club Class 4 H’cap - 1300 metres
1st Hussana 2nd It’s Elementry 3rd Fields Of Plenty 4th- Noble Lustre
NOBLE LUSTRE (D. Tanti) began extremely awkwardly and shifted in, hampering SEAFIGHT (S. Sheargold). In this incident, SEAFIGHT contacted the hind quarters of NOBLE LUSTRE which then shifted in further and caused SEAFIGHT to be further inconvenienced and lose ground.
In the middle stages, SEAFIGHT overraced.
ANGEL FORCE (A. Pattillo) raced 3 wide throughout.
Race 8: XXXX Bitter Class 2 H’cap - 1823 metres
1st Desperate Woman 2nd Jestarossa 3rd Sir Van Tees 4th- Nail ‘em
SIR VAN TEES (A. Pattillo) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Until near the 1200m, ENCOSTA SEQUALO (C. Whiteley), DESPERATE WOMAN (A. Butler) and NAIL ‘EM (C. Pye) overraced.
DONOSTIA (S. Sheargold) raced 3 wide throughout, and jockey S. Sheargold reported that the horse laid in near the 700m.
Between the 400m and 200m, SIR VAN TEES (A. Pattillo) laid in, which placed its rider at a disadvantage.
Apprentice M. Hellyer was afforded the opportunity to explain the performance of UPLIFTING. Apprentice Hellyer stated that he was not disappointed with the performance given the step up in distance and class today and the time elapsed since its last start. He further stated that whilst UPLIFTING was tiring on entering the straight, it nevertheless, in his opinion, finished the race off reasonably well. A post race veterinary examination of UPLIFTING failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Following the event, jockey A. Pattillo reported he had sustained an injury to his right elbow.
