Immediately prior to the start REDOUTE'S POWER (N. Patchett) reared, and when the start was effected the gelding began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start MADAM DIDDLY (J. P. Stanley) dipped.
Near the 1200 metres COPY THIS (App. C. Schmidt) over-raced for a short distance when steadied from the heels of BELLA BEIJING (App. A. Butler).
DANE FIRE (App. K. Gates) and REDOUTE'S POWER raced wide throughout.
Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey M. Evans as to the performance of JOSHUA'S MIGHT. Jockey Evans said that after beginning well the gelding travelled comfortably throughout, however when the pace quickened and he placed JOSHUA'S MIGHT under pressure, the gelding failed to sprint and in his opinion was one-paced.
Race 2: Book Your Function @ Callaghan Park QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st COVERT CHARMOUR 2nd VELONMAARA 3rd SULTRY GAL 4th - RISHONA
Prior to the start trainer M. Reardon informed stewards that en route to the track COVERT CHARMOUR had shown signs of having been bitten or stung by an insect. The gelding was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
PLATINUM PEAKS (App. C.Schmidt) was slow to begin and then was further hampered when tightened for room between HOLD THAT THOUGHT (J. P. Stanley) and SULTRY GAL (T. O'Hara), both of which shifted ground.
At the start PUFF OF SMOKE (C. Pye) shifted out and made contact with VELONMAARA (A.. A. Allen), which became unbalanced. PUFF OF SMOKE then raced wide throughout.
Close to the 200 metres HAYYLER'S DRAGON (N. Patchett) shifted out and caused HOLD THAT THOUGHT (J. P. Stanley) to alter course and shift out. Jockey Patchett was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

1st CANNY SWIM 2nd PRINCELY 3rd SAINT BELLE 4th - LIBERTY TYCOON
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred leaving the 200 metres. Stewards established that at this stage of the race SAVANNAH GOLD commenced to lay inwards and at the same time LIBERTY TYCOON (N. Patchett) shifted out marginally. GUILETTA (App. K. Gates), which had not fully obtained a run between those two horses, was forced to check and lost ground. Jockey Bannon was reprimanded.

REENA began awkwardly.
For a short distance near the 900 metres ARRESTEDFORHUNTING (L. Dillon) over-raced on the heels of CALL ME COBBER (App. C. Schmidt)

Following the race Jockey J. P. Stanley reported that RED ERIC was inclined to hang in from the 400 metres and as a consequence he was unable to fully test the gelding.
Stewards sought an explanation from trainer A. Clark as to the seemingly improved performance of FLYING INDY. Mr Clark stated prior to today's race that he had made changes to the gear on the gelding. Mr Clark added that at its most recent start FLYING INDY had performed well, in that he had started from a wide barrier and he was of the opinion that the gelding has performed well when able to race in a more forward position and in a weaker class of race.
Race 5: Emirates Melb Cup Tour Visits Bethany Residential Class 3 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st PASSIVITY 2nd DORF RILEY 3rd SHORT TRIP 4th - FADED
