SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

Rockhampton Jockey Club- Thursday 15th August, 2013

Trainer W. Winters reported that RIDE LIKE THE WIND had been inspected by his stable veterinarian and was found to be shin sore in both forelegs. Mr Winters confirmed the gelding was sent for a spell.

Trainer M. Lehmann advised stewards that ZABOMB had pulled up well following its performance, nevertheless he has decided to send the horse for a spell.

Yeppoon Race Club- Saturday 17th August, 2013.

Trainer T Cook advised Stewards that SCHRAPNEL GULLY had exhibited swelling to the nearside of its head following its engagement on this day. The gelding was treated for this complaint.

GENERAL:

App. K. Gates was fined $200 under A.R. 160B(3) for having a mobile phone in her possession in the Jockeys' Room.

Stewards questioned Jockey T. O'Hara with regard to the finding of a mobile phone during a search of the Jockeys' room. After taking evidence from Jockey O'Hara, stewards deemed that Jockey O'Hara was not in breach of the Rule as the telephone was not capable of transmitting or receiving information.

Race 1: RJC 12/13 Racing Awards/ N Patchett Appeal Dinner Fri 30.8 Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
1st ROMONA MISS 2nd CENTREFOLD BABE 3rd PUFF OF SMOKE 4th - BLOOMDSAY

MISS GARRMOUR (C. Pye), which was resuming from a significant break from racing, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.

KING PEM (A. Coome) and COOL CALL (D. Simmons) made contact at the start.

MINARDI MAGIC (T. O'Hara) was slow to begin and jumped awkwardly.

As the start was effected VIZZANO (App. K. Gates) jumped in the air and lost some ground. VIZZANO was further hampered when CENTREFOLD BABE (App. A. Taylor) which shifted out.

Near the 800 metres VIZZANO rolled in and had to be steadied from the heels of OCTOMAN (App. S. McGovern), which had rolled out.

SPACE JAM (L. Dillon) and MISS GARRMOUR raced wide throughout.

Race 2: XXXX Gold 3YO Handicap - 1050 metres
1st GIRLS WORLD 2nd FINAL CHAPTER 3rd COLD COLLECT 4th - CAUGHT SWITCHING

MASTER ROSHI (C. Pye) was fractious in the barriers and then began extremely awkwardly.

FINAL CHAPTER (T. O'Hara) was a little slow to begin.

DANIALSON (C. McIver) raced wide until near the 700 metres.

A post-race veterinary examination of MASTER ROSHI revealed that the gelding had jarred up in both forelegs.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey L. Dillon regarding his riding of COLD COLLECT rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Jockey Dillon stated that he was instructed to ride the filly with cover, preferably in a handy to midfield position. Jockey Dillon said that in the early part of the straight he shifted his mount inwards anticipating that he would be able to obtain a clear run closer to the running rail, however he was unable to obtain do so. Jockey Dillon added that a doubtful run presented near the 400 metres, between DANIALSON and CAUGHT SWITCHING (D. Simmons), however he formed the opinion that the run would close when both runners shifted ground, and accordingly he shifted to the outside of FINAL CHAPTER (T. O'Hara) and though the filly took some time to gain momentum, COLD COLLECT found the line strongly.

Race 3: Hahn Premium Light Class 1 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st HIP SHAKE BANG 2nd HAYYLER'S DRAGON 3rd BIG BERT 4th - FRENCH GARRISON

PRETTY POLLYANNA (App. A. Taylor) and MAX'S GIRL (App. L. Tilley) came together at the start.

FORMALSTAR (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

HAYYLER'S DRAGON (L. Dillon) was slow to begin, began awkwardly, shifted outwards and hampered EMOTIONALLY YOURS (C. Pye), which was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of CRYSTALS'N'PEARLS (C. McIver).

DADSAIDJETTA (App. A. Kitson) began awkwardly and lost ground.

From the 200 metres BIG BERT (D. Hayse) laid in and had to be steadied from the heels of CRYSTALS'N'PEARLS, then over the concluding stages continued to lay in.

Over the concluding stages CRYSTALS'N'PEARLS had to be steadied from the heels of COUNT ON A ROCKET (T. O'Hara).

CRYSTALS'N'PEARLS and FRENCH GARRISON (D. Simmons) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Summer Bright Class 1 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st IDANCE 2nd DANE FIRE 3rd RESTRAINING ORDER 4th - NORDIC JET

Prior to the race trainer D. Stafford advised stewards that he would instruct Jockey L. Dillon to attempt to ride NORDIC JET in a more forward position than has been its usual racing pattern. Public announcements were made accordingly. However, when NORDIC JET was slow to begin, Jockey Dillon was unable to take up a forward position.

After being placed in the barriers REDOUTE'S POWER (App. A.Kitson) reared and got both forelegs forward over the barrier partition. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

REDOUTES POWER (App. A. Kitson), CERVANCE (A. Coome) and VENNOM (D. Simmons) were slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages RESTRAINING ORDER (C. Pye) raced wide.

Near the 1000 metres COUNT ON A ROCKET (T. O'Hara), which was over-racing for a short distance, was steadied from the heels of RE ECHO (J. P. Stanley).

In the middle stages NO MORE VICES (J. Stephens) over-raced.

GLITZERLAND (App. S. Payne) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of JESTER'S CHOICE (C. McIver) did not reveal any abnormalities.

Trainer T. Cook informed stewards that he would recommend to connections that CERVANCE be retired from racing.

Race 5: Toohey’s Extra Dry BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st BEAUX STRATA 2nd STAY THE NIGHT 3rd SLIM HENRY 4th - SPEEDSKATER

At the start SLIM HENRY (App. S. Payne) jumped in the air and began awkwardly.

On jumping, SOCIETY LASS (D. Hayse) jumped in the air.

SPEEDSKATER (App. A. Kitson) and CHINRUB (App. L. Tilley) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start DAMN GOOD IDEA (C. Pye), which was a little slow to begin, was tightened for room between CRAIGLEA CONVICT (App. R. Johnston-Bell) and STAR GIGGLE (L. Dillon), both of which shifted ground.

Near the 200 metres STAY THE NIGHT (A. Coome) commenced to lay out under pressure, and near the 100 metres again laid out under pressure and made contact with BEAUX STRATA (App. K. Gates).

Just prior to the winning post ENDLESS TOWER (J. P. Stanley) was steadied from the heels of STAY THE NIGHT.

Jockey L. Dillon reported that STAR GIGGLE was inclined to hang out in running.

App. S. McGovern, the rider of DIRECT DEBIT, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out right to the finish.

Race 6: Bacardi Oakheart Class 3 Plate - 1200 metres
1st BAGGER BONES 2nd SUZANNE 3rd PERMISSION GRANTED 4th - VOLTURNUS

TESTYA TIME (T. O'Hara) refused to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the mare at 5.06p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on TESTYA TIME be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

5¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, BAGGER BONES
6¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, BAGGER BONES
6¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, SUZANNE
6¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, PERMISSION GRANTED


Trainer J. Poots was advised that he must furnish two barrier certificates prior to TESTYA TIME being permitted to race again.

HOLD THAT THOUGHT (D. Hayse) jumped in the air at the start.

DUNCAN (C. Pye) was slow to begin.

SNIP 'N' AWAY (C. McIver) dipped shortly after the start.

Near the 900 metres PRECIOUS LILLY (App. A. Kitson) was steadied from the heels of HOLD THAT THOUGHT.

Approaching the 400 metres App. A. Taylor, the rider of VELONMAARA, dropped her whip.
