BAROQUE STAR (App. S. Fawke), which was slow to begin, was further hampered by CASIROLL (A. Coome), which shifted in.
In the early and middle stages CASIROLL raced fiercely.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on CASINO BENJO, Jockey S. Sheargold stated that his instructions were specifically not to lead but to obtain a position with cover. However, as the colt did not begin as well as he had expected, and bearing in mind that the blinkers were removed from the colt's gear today, he took up a position at the rear of the field.
CASIROLL returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the off hind leg.
On returning to scale it was noted that INSTINCTIVE MOVE (B. Stewart) had a small amount of blood present from a cut to the nearside nostril.

Race 3: Toohey’s Extra Dry QTIS 2YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st COURT LANE 2nd BEST HURRAH 3rd NAVAL BELLE 4th - STYLISH LUCK
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards inquired into the reason for AYBESEE (R. McMahon) failing to jump with the field. After taking evidence from Jockey McMahon, the starters and trainer M. Tremble, stewards established that AYBESEE was fractious in the barrier and reared as the start was effected, unseating Jockey McMahon. In the circumstances stewards, acting under the provisions of A.R. 134A, declared the gelding a runner and correct weight was declared on the judge's number. Mr Tremble was advised that he must furnish a further barrier certificate for AYBESEE.
As the start was effected NO TIME TO THINK (S. Sheargold) bounded in the air and appeared to strike its head and began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did reveal any abnormalities.
From the 400 metres until near the 200 metres NAVAL BELLE (App. M. McGillivray) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

BREAKIN' RULES and BURN AND TURN (J. Missen) were slow to begin.
LICK 'EM LOLLY (L. Dillon) was slow to begin. Jockey Dillon reported that the mare took a step back as the start was effected and that its performance was adversely affected by having blinkers on as part of its approved gear.

Jockey Coome was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 2 meetings, to commence at midnight on 17th July 2014, up to and including midnight on 24th July 2014. In arriving at a penalty stewards took into account the low degree of carelessness involved and Jockey Coome's good riding record.
