Late Riding changes:

When Jockey B. Stewart was indisposed and unable to fulfil his engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Stewart was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.

Race 1: XXXX Gold QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap – 1300m

COURT LANE - Slow to begin.

SICIMONACHICKEN - Slow to begin.

STYLISH LUCK - Leaving the 1000 metres over-raced for a short distance. The trainer reported that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its off foreleg.

LALITA - Raced keenly for a short distance in the early stages.

COURT LANE - When questioned regarding performance, rider stated that approaching the 900 metres she was caught wide and had to be eased to take up a position at the rear of the field. Jockey O'Hara said that, having in mind the step up in distance of today's event, she was of the view that this was the most suitable way for the filly to be ridden. Jockey O'Hara stated that COURT LANE travelled well throughout the event, however near the 200 metres, after gaining the lead, the filly peaked on its run. She added that the 58.5 kg impost may have had a bearing on the filly's poor performance. Trainer C. Thompson reported that he would have blood tests taken and consideration may be given to a spell.Trainer will have blood tests taken and may consider spelling the filly.

BEST HURRAH - Trainer reported that the gelding will be freshened up and that he will add blinkers to its gear for its next race start.

Race 2: PKF Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1400m

VICTORY HOTEL - A little slow to begin. Near the 1100 metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied from heels.

CHINRUB - A little slow to begin. Near the 1200 metres raced fiercely, laid in and had to be eased from the heels of another runner.

Race 3: Summer Bright Maiden Plate – 1200m

LUNAR COMMAND - Refused to be led into the enclosure and was a late scratching, at 2.47 p. m. All moneys invested on the horse to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:

23¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner, BELLA BEIJING
19¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner
21¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, MIGHTY SAVANNAH
19¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, AMAZZLER

BLUEBERRY WINE - Began awkwardly.

MIGHTY SAVANNAH - Laid out near the 900 metres.

DRAGON GOLD - For a short distance near the 900 metres over-raced and had to be steadied from the heels of another runner.

COOLOWIE - Raced wide throughout.

IF IN DOUBT - Rider A Spinks reprimanded for failing to ride mount out right to finish. Stewards were of the opinion that this had not cost the mare third placing.

Race 4: Centre State Signs Class 3 Handicap - 1200m

COUNTING HOUSE - Was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider reported that the gelding failed to travel well throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had blood in its mouth as a result of having dislodged teeth.

DAME JUDARIUS - Slow to begin.

DAILY PLANET - Slow to begin.

HONOUR THE DAME - Slow to begin. Rider questioned regarding the performance of the mare, the rider stated that he took up a handy position and his mount travelled well throughout, however failed to sprint and was awkward in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare showed a slow recovery rate, but no other significant abnormalities.

STRATEGIC GLORY- Near the 1200 metres laid in, resulting in another runner having to be eased.

CUMANI – Near the 1200 metres, was eased.

PRINCE DAN - Held up in the early part of the straight and unable to obtain clear running until near the 300 metres.

Race 5: Stage & Audio Class 1 Handicap – 1100m

FANTASTIC EIGHT - Broke through the barriers, quickly restrained, underwent veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.

SHADOW PUPPET - A little slow to begin, shifted ground and made contact with another runner. Near the 700 metres over-reached and became unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had quartered its off foreleg. The mare was treated for the problem. Trainer was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.

JUST DO SOMETHING - At the start made contact with two other runners, both of which shifted ground.

DOUBTFUL PRINCE - At the start shifted ground and made contact with another runner.

CHAMPAGNE ELOPING - Slipped on jumping, began awkwardly and was tightened between runners.

GOIN' CRAZY - Taken outwards by another runner at start and tightened another runner.

KEN'S ROSE - Shifted ground at start and tightened another runner. Rider D. Evans reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on a horse out of contention.

SHANDIEN - Rider fined $100 for use of the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to 100 metres.

STRONG TIL DAWN - At start shifted out taking another runner wider. Raced wide throughout.

HOLY MAN - In the straight, was inclined to lay in.

Trainer Z Hohn (CHAMPAGNE ELOPING) was advised of the rules relating to plating requirements.




Race 6: Prime Properties Rockhampton Benchmark 60 Handicap – 1600m

FOREVER MORE - Slow into stride.

EL GALGO - Began awkwardly and then was slow into stride.

DROPPER CRYSTAL - Near the 900 metres rolled in marginally, taking another runner inwards and obliging that runner to be eased from heels. Raced wide throughout.

MANDALONG CATATAC - Near 900 metres taken in by another runner and had to be eased from heels, resulting in another runner being tightened for room, taken in onto the running rail and losing ground.

MANILA ACADEMY - Near 900m tightened for room, made contact with the running rail and lost ground.
