LATE RIDING CHANGES
When Jockey J. P. Stanley was ill and unable to fulfil his engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Stanley was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.
Race 1: Tooheys Extra Dry QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap – 1100m
JOANIES LUCK - Slipped at the start, then raced greenly in the home straight.
DEEP CREEK FLYER - Had to be steadied at the 900 metres.
TIME TO SPARE - Shifted in under pressure over concluding stages.
MATAHINA - Was tightened for room over concluding stages.
STARLET GIRL - Over the concluding stages steadied when tightened for room.
Race 2: Hahn Premium Light Maiden Handicap - 1050m
JACKSON MAGIC - Bumped at the start.
BOLD HAVEN - Bumped at start.
SISTER KATIE - Slow to begin.
OUR REECE - laid out rounding the home turn.
GHANA - Took charge of rider on way to start and galloped a considerable distance. Late scratching, at 1.45 p.m., by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All money invested on the horse to be refunded and following deductions to apply:
23¢ in the dollar for the win on the winner, MYSTIC LAD
21¢ in the dollar for the place on the winner, MYSTIC LAD
17¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, ROSELLA EAGLE
21¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, LIGHTNING ARTIST
S.P. not subject to deductions.
Trainer was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse's race day manners.
Race 3: Bluebirds Social Club BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1050m
STRATEGIC GLORY - At the request of the rider, examined by veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to take its place in the field. Public announcements were made to that effect.
FORCE ONE - Began awkwardly, over-raced and had to be steadied near 900 metres.
DUMUZI - Began awkwardly.
BAGGER BONES - Began awkwardly, raced wide and was bumped near the 50 metres.
DAMO'S TOUCH - Bumped at start. held up for clear running near 200 metres and had to be steadied again near the 100 metres. Near 50 metres shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner.
FLIGHT COMMAND - Steadied near 900 metres.
Race 4: XXXX Gold Handicap - 1200m
DIRECT DEBIT - Slow to begin. Stewards questioned rider regarding performance. She said that the horse never travelled well at any stage of the event and she was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance.
BEAUTIFUL TIMING - Slow to begin.
Race 5: Century Batteries Class 2 Handicap – 970m
BARACCA - Had to be re-plated prior to the start.
HILLCREST - Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground at the start.
PRECIOUS LILLY - Slow into stride, travelled wide and was held up from the 300 metres until the 200 metres.
CROCKETT'S MISTAKE - Began awkwardly.
MYSTERIOUS MAN - Due to a clerical error Stewards permitted the gelding to race with blinkers and without bandages. Public announcement were made to this effect. Raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Summer Bright BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1600m
CASIROLL - Began awkwardly and shifted in at the start.
NO RISQUE - Shifted out at the start.
FOMALSTAR Tightened for room on jumping.
BOSS HUSSLER - Slow to begin.
MAGIC WALTZ - Tightened for room at the 1500 metres.
SUPPOSING - Tightened for room at the 1500 metres and was steadied at the 1300 metres. Rider questioned regarding performance stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout and proved most disappointing. He added that he was of the view that his mount may not have backed up from its most recent start, on 14th August 2014.
INSTINCTIVE MOVE - Tightened for room at the 1500 metres, hung in at the 1300 metres. Rider dropped whip at 300 metres.
SADDLEBACK - Hung in near the 1500 metres despite the efforts of its rider.
Race 7: Bacardi Oakheart BenchMark 60 Handicap – 1300m
KHAANTANTES - Raced without a tongue-tie. Public announcements were made accordingly and stewards will make further inquiries into the matter.
VANCOUVER GOLD - At request of the trainer, examined by veterinary surgeon after arriving on course and cleared to take its place in field. Public announcements were made to that effect. Steadied from heels 800m
FIDESDI - Slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount hung in for majority of the event and proved difficult to ride. Steadied at the 800 metres.
STREETFIRE - Forced wide at the 800 metres.
ANNONAY - Checked at 900 metres when another runner hung in, despite the efforts of its rider.
