Race 1 – FK GARDNER & SONS GROUP MAIDEN PLATE - 1000M:
PEAK CROSSING – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
IRISH DARK – Was slow to begin.
HEAVENLY GLASS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the enclosure gate on entering the track. Was subsequently passed fit to start by the veterinary surgeon. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 600m had to steady to avoid the heels of ROAR ABLIBERTY, which shifted in. Q. Krogh, the rider of that horse was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
DEVELISH DEMEANOUR – Was slow into stride. Near the 700m had to steady to avoid the heels of another runner.
Race 2 – MCINNES WILSON LAWYERS CLASS 1 HCP - 1000M:
PHASE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the enclosure gate on entering the track. Was subsequently passed fit to start by the veterinary surgeon. Steadied from another runner’s heels shortly after start.
MYSTIC MEDUSA – Knuckled on jumping away. Steadied and lost ground when tightened for room near the 500m.
STAR SYSTEM – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
FELINE MISS – Raced greenly in the early stages.
KOORAGAN LANE – Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 700m.
EXSTRATUM – Checked when tightened for room by another runner near the 600m and again near the 500m.
Race 3 – JJ RICHARDS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HCP – 1200M:
UNCHAINED – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced ungenerously and had to be steadied from heels shortly after the start.
SNAP FREEZE – When questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance apprentice E. Ljung advised that she was tightened for room at the start by other runners and as a result settled further back than she had anticipated. She further added that she placed the filly under pressure through the middle stages of the event and endeavored to improve into the race however the filly failed to respond to her riding which she attributed to the filly resenting the kickback.
Following the running of this race Jockey Bradley Appo took ill and required attention from the ambulance officials and was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Rider replacements were made as per the stewards summary.
Race 4 – COCA COLA QTIS 3YO PLATE – 1200M:
The start of this race was delayed due to B. Appo requiring examination from the ambulance officials following the running of race 3.
OLE PABLO - On returning to scale B. Evans reported that his mount laid in in the straight and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.
LITTLE WHITE DOVE – Was slow to begin.
MISS AMABELLA – Tightened for room at the start.
PARTING - Tightened for room at the start.
MISS SUGAR PUSS - Tightened for room at the start. On returning to scale apprentice E. Ljung reported that the filly travelled comfortably throughout the middle stages however when placed under pressure from the 400m, the filly failed to quicken as she had expected and proved somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer D. Baker advised that in light of the performance today he might now consider sending the horse for a spell.
HIGHLAND CRUISING – Steadied near the 1100m to avoid the heels of another runner.
Race 5 – NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT BMK 65 HCP – 1200M:
JUNCTION SPUR – Was found post-race to have bled from one nostril and will be required to gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.
STRAIGHT SHOOTER – Began awkwardly.
SHEZA ROUGHIE – Was slow to begin.
CAPTAIN SPUR – Was slow to begin.
UNSEEN – When questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance apprentice M. McGillivray stated that the gelding travelled ungenerously during the early and middle stages of the event, which he attributed to the horse not being entirely comfortable on the sand-racing surface. He added that when placed under pressure the horse failed to respond as he had anticipated and proved disappointing.
Race 6 – XXXX GOLD BOYD HARMS MEMORIAL COUNTRY QLD SHOWCASE OPEN HCP – 1000M:
BRADY ‘N’ ME - Near the 150m improved onto the heels of another runner and shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running.
Race 7 – ENERFLEX BMK 60 HCP – 1640M:
HIS REDEMPTION was a late scratching at 2:50pm on vet’s advice. Trainer T. Button was advised that the gelding would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next start.
LA CLOISONNE – Tightened for room at the start. Over raced in the early stages of the event and clipped the heels of another runner approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
CANID – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
JUST TAKE IT – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. R. Kerwin, the rider of Just Take It was reprimanded for using her whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
MURRAMARANG – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
LUCKS IN – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
COUNT BLEVIC – Approaching the 1100m raced in restricted room and made contact with the running rail when momentarily tightened for room by another runner.
Race 8 – CONDON TREASURE FERRIER & CO ROMA CUP OPEN HCP – 1640M:
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey S. Egan, the rider of OFORAWESOME, the opportunity to view the patrol film to establish whether or not he had grounds to lodge an objection against the first place getter TINTS for alleged interference on entering the home straight. After viewing the films jockey S. Egan decided against lodging an objection and correct weight was declared on the judges numbered semaphored.
SHAKES – Was slow to begin.
STORM MAGIC – Raced keenly in the early stages.
OFORAWESOME – Steadied from heels while racing keenly near the 1100m. Clipped heels and blundered rounding the home turn. N. Evans the rider of TINTS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137 (a) in that near the 250m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear resulting in Oforawesome blundering. Jockey N. Evans’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings commencing m/n 29/11/14 and to expire m/n 12/12/14.
FLYING HOME – Performed disappointingly. Rider reported horse failed to handle the tight turning track. A post race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities.
