1st – Just Pokenalong 2nd – Rattle The Tin 3rd – Flying Lamborgini 4th – Mishani Persuader

The explanation tendered by trainer T. Thomas for the late declaration of apprentice S. Wiseman as the rider of ELLAWISDOM and NICKIERA (Race 7) was accepted.

SHE’S A MIRAGE (M. Gray) and MISHANI PERSUADER (P. Hammersley) were slow to begin.

DADSAIDJETTA (L. Finlay) began awkwardly and was buffeted between ELLAWISDOM (S. Wiseman) and HEZA RICHES (R. McMahon).

Near the 900m JUST POKENALONG (G. Killen) shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, causing MISHANI PERSUADER to steady. In this incident DADSAIDJETTA and ELLAWISDOM, which were following, were hampered as a consequence.

HEZA RICHES raced wide for the majority of the event.

ELLAWISDOM raced extremely wide rounding the home turn.

R. McMahon (HEZA RICHES) was reprimanded for raising his whip arm above shoulder height.

Dillon), which also shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry both apprentice K. Gates and L. Dillon were advised to ensure there is sufficient racing room for fellow riders when shifting ground in future.

Leaving the 1000m FLINDERS ROCK (T. Harrison) improved up on to the heels of SIDESHOW SUMMER and was steadied. BLING BLING KID, which was following, was checked when it became awkwardly placed at the heels of FLINDERS ROCK and shifted wider, resulting in LA DOUBT (S. Drake) being hampered.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of FLINDERS ROCK, trainer M. Palmer stated that the gelding had pleased him leading up to today’s event and the only tangible explanation he could offer was that the horse may have been suited to the cushion track surface.

S. Drake (LA DOUBT) was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out to the end of the race.

When asked for an explanation for the disappointing performance of BUTCH'S MATE, P. Hammersley said that after beginning slowly, the gelding settled behind the leaders and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond to his riding.
