RACE 1
TOURISM SUNSHINE COAST AWARD WINNERS HANDICAP 850 metres
Trainer Gary Peters was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for MR. MONEYMAKER by the required time.
HERE’S HOW was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start KID’S PLAY bucked for some distance. Trainer Warren Klee was advised KID’S PLAY must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
After passing the 200 metres DARTH VADER was inclined to lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of LA BEBE.
RACE 2
LANDMARK RESORT PLATE 1000 metres
TELKALA was slow to begin.
HENRY THE FRUITBAT and FLAT made contact on jumping away.
ROCKY ICE jumped away awkwardly.
Leaving the 700 metres FLAT had to be checked when tightened for room between HENRY THE FRUITBAT which was inclined to lay in and TELKALA which shifted out to avoid the heels of GRACE’S KIN.
LITTLE MYSTERY which was following had to be checked to avoid the heels of FLAT.
After leaving the 200 metres THE MOSSY BANK KID had to be steadied when tightened for room by HENRY THE FRUITBAT which shifted in abruptly away from TELKALA.
RACE 3
EVERGLADES WATER BUS COMPANY HANDICAP 1000 metres
SHALARKO was slow to begin.
When racing ungenerously near the 800 metres LATIN QUARTER had to be checked to avoid the heels of CENTRELARINA which shifted in. T. Unwin rider of CENTRELARINA was reprimanded and advised she must be sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.
RACE 4
UNDERWATER WORLD HANDICAP 1000 metres
SPLENDIDO was tightened for room on jumping away between TURF ACE and CAPTAIN MALLORY both of which shifted ground.
When pulling hard near the 800 metres MIGHTY ATALANTA shifted out hampering SPRING LOVER and taking CAPTAIN MALLORY wider on the track. In this incident RIVER OF LIFE and GENERAL DERBY were inconvenienced.
SPRING LOVER was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn taking CAPTAIN MALLORY and GENERAL DERBY wider on the track.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of CAPTAIN MALLORY trainer M. Mair stated he was disappointed in the performance however said that the gelding sweated up badly prior to the event but could not offer any other reason. Mr. Mair also added that should any condition develop over the next few days to explain the performance he would notify Stewards.
A post race Veterinary examination of CAPTAIN MALLORY failed to reveal any abnormality and the gelding was swabbed.

RACE 5
BUDERIM WHITE HOUSE HANDICAP 1400 metres
Due to a clerical error L. Deguara was shown in the racebook as the rider of NEVER IN DOUBT whereas N. Tomizawa was engaged as the rider of that filly.
ST. EUGENE was slow to begin.
Rounding the 800 metres turn IRISH SON improved up on to the heels of MACARTHUR and had to be steadied.
After passing the 600 metres ST. EUGENE became awkward when racing to the inside of SABAI SABAI.
Approaching the 400 metres MACARTHUR shifted out to improve and in doing so took LOVER ROSE out on to the hind quarters of IRISH SON. which became unbalanced
Passing the 300 metres SEMAJ GIRL had to be steadied off the heels of MY DÉCOR which shifted out under pressure.
Trainer Jim Bannon’s representative reported that IRISH SON returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the off hind leg.
RACE 6
SURF LIFE SAVING QLD SUNSHINE COAST BRANCH HANDICAP 1400 metres
CONGO POWER reared on jumping away and lost ground.
Over the concluding stages ANCORA FILA was tightened for room between MIGHTY EEL and HUGE which shifted out.
A post race Veterinary examination of CONGO POWER which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7
TERRACE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT HANDICAP 1200 metres
As A. Pattillo was stood down by the Club Doctor he was replaced on KOHINOOR BLUE by N. Day.
Trainer L. Freedman was fined the sum of $50 for presenting RELEVANCE to the enclosure with blinkers.
Acting on Veterinary advice KEA LEAH was declared a late scratching at 3.52pm after the filly became fractious and broke through the barrier.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on KEA LEAH were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 16c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 14c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer L. Faber was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained for KEA LEAH prior to its next race start.
CAPTAIN RHETT failed to jump with the field. Trainer G. Ryan’s representative was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained for CAPTAIN RHETT prior to its next race start.
Near the 1000 metres GO SANDY was steadied when briefly tightened for room by RELEVANCE which was taken in by HE’S A TREASURE.
Near the 500 metres MAYNE BELLE shifted out to improve taking STORMY BLUE out on to DARTANYON.
Near the 200 metres N. Tomizawa rider of TOPICS accidentally dropped his whip.
RACE 8
CASTLEMAINE PERKINS HANDICAP 1600 metres
Approaching the 1400 metres THE DESPERADO KID and CLASSIC LIGHT made contact on several occasions.
After leaving the 1400 metres CLUTCH CARGO was inclined to lay in causing THE DESPERADO KID to be checked.
Approaching the 800 metres NED’S DEVINE shifted in and tightened the running of GAME HUNER. In this incident GAME HUNTER brushed the running rail.

Race 8 Contd..
Apprentice A. Gould rider of MEGAFUN pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 750 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ROUSSOS causing that horse to be severely checked and GRAND VENTURE which was following also had to be severely checked. THE DESPERADO KID was hampered.
Apprentice Gould was suspended from riding for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Thursday 2nd November 2000 and to expire at midnight on Wednesday 15th November 2000.
Approaching the 500 metres ROUSSOS shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
Eight winners plus CAPTAIN MALLORY (Race 4) were swabbed.
