RACE 1
MERRY CHRISTMAS HANDICAP 2200 metres
When the pace slackened making the turn out of the straight RED ROOM ROMPER shifted out to avoid the heels of MAGIC WATERS taking REMETTRE wider on the track.
Approaching the 300 metres OUR GANG shifted in to avoid the heels of RED ROOM ROMPER.
RACE 2
RUDOLPH HANDICAP 1300 metres
COBAR STRIKE was slow to begin.
After jumping away awkwardly CERTOSA shifted in and made contact with DARK FLYER.
RACE 3
CHRISTMAS CAROLS HANDICAP 1300 metres
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason trainer Gerald Ryan failed to declare L. Hill as the rider of AFFILIER by the required time.
PRIDE OF COURSE and KIWI CHIMES were both slow to begin.
After leaving the 900 metres PERFORM, which was pulling hard, shifted out. LITTLE MYSTERY which was following had to shift out to avoid the heels of that mare.
Approaching the 600 metres ROCCINA shifted in and brushed the hind quarters of KIWI CHIMES which shifted in and brushed the running rail.
Approaching the 400 metres ROCCINA had to be steadied when tightened for room by ZANDE which shifted in momentarily.
Rounding the home turn PERFORM had to be steadied off the heels of CRAFTY GLOW which shifted out to improve.
After leaving the 300 metres CRAFTY GLOW shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring GALA LADY.
Approaching the 200 metres ROCCINA had to be steadied off the heels of ZANDE which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the performance of ROCCINA jockey N. Jolly stated he was instructed to ride the filly where ever she was comfortable and when the filly settled back in the field he elected to ease towards the fence instead of racing in a three wide position.. He also stated that ROCCINA had been ridden back in the field at its previous start at Doomben however after being inconvenienced near the 400 metres today the filly had difficulty gaining momentum until well into the straight.
Stable representative B. Deakon confirmed the instructions given to N. Jolly and indicated that the filly will be spelled. He also stated that ROCCINA returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth.
A post race Veterinary examination of ROCCINA failed to reveal any abnormality and the filly was swabbed.
RACE 4
MISTLETOE HANDICAP 1400 metres
Apprentice C. Taylor was fined the sum of $50 for failing to claim the major portion of his allowance on RIP WISKER.
After jumping away awkwardly NELLIE DE AIR shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of BELLECKO.
At the entrance to the straight PACKSYND shifted out to improve taking NELLIE DE AIR and RIP WISKER both wider on the track.

Race 4 Contd..
After leaving the 100 metres CAPE MORETON faltered and was retired from the event. VERNELLY which was following had to be checked to avoid that horse. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CAPE MORETON had fractured the off fore leg and was euthanased on humane grounds.
RACE 5
SEASONS GREETINGS HANDICAP 1300 metres
LATIN QUARTER and SHAMROCK D’OR made heavy contact shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1200 metres LATIN QUARTER and SHAMROCK D’OR were momentarily tightened for room between SOVEREIGN FLAME and WAIT AND HOPE, both of which shifted ground.
After passing the 100 metres S. Katsidis had to stop riding and straighten ANNUNCIATION on two occasions when the mare shifted in under pressure.
RACE 6
PEACE ON EARTH HANDICAP 1000 metres
Due to transport difficulties apprentice R. Pittman was unable to fulfil his engagement on FLAMING PRINCE and was replaced by apprentice Y. Ota.
RAWCOMOTION which broke through the barriers prior to the start was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
MARCASITE and HEARTLY GIRL were both slow to begin.
.FLAMING PRINCE and PARIS RUN made contact on jumping away.
After passing the 600 metres FLAMING PRINCE shifted out and made contact with PARIS RUN.
Making the home turn FLAMING PRINCE shifted out to improve and brushed PARIS RUN.
RACE 7
SANTA CLAUS HANDICAP 1400 metres
MAGICO was slow to begin.
Making the 800 metres ARC BURN shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
ALPINE WHISTLER was held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and for a short distance in the straight.
Approaching the 400 metres ARC BURN had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by SAMSONGRAND which shifted in.
After passing the 100 metres jockey S. Katsidis had to stop riding MEMBREO with the whip when the gelding shifted in under pressure.
Over the concluding stages MEMBREO shifted in when being struck with the whip and made contact with COMPLIANT.
A post race Veterinary examination of MEMBREO revealed the gelding sustained a laceration to the near hind leg during the event.
RACE 8
JINGLE BELLS HANDICAP 1000 metres
Approaching the 700 metres AXOLOTI shifted in and made contact with CHICK CHUCK which became unbalanced and shifted in and brushed KANTAGRY.
Approaching the 600 metres CHICK CHUCK had to be checked when tightened for room between KANTAGRY which shifted out slightly and AXOLOTI which shifted in. L. Hill rider of AXOLOTI was reprimanded over this incident and advised to exercise more care in future.
Approaching the 500 metres KANTAGRY had to be steadied off the heels of AXOLOTI which shifted in. L. Hill rider of AXOLOTI was reminded of his obligation to be fully clear when shifting ground.

Race 8 Contd..
When questioned regarding the improved performance of OZZLE compared to its last start when placed 5th at Esk trainer Barry Miller stated that at that particular start the horse was trapped wide throughout but ran home well and in his opinion the track did not suit the horse.
Mr. Miller also stated that OZZLE always performs well when racing at Caloundra.
All winners plus ROCCINA (Race 3) were swabbed.
