STEWARDS REPORT Sunday 8th July 2001

WEATHER: Fine
Moveable rail out 12 metres from the 850 to the 400 then 10 metres for the remainder.
TRACK RATING:

QPC CADET STEWARD: Mr. C. Fergusson

GENERAL;
As S. Katsidis was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 2 NAKED SPUR S. Galloway
Race 5 ROYAL SEA M. Smith-Lester
Race 6 SHOWZON B. Swanton
Race 8 NORTHERN CRUSADER J. Walk

As Ms. L. McCoy was indisposed she was replaced as follows:
Race 2 BETTY BOOP K. Yoshida
Race 4 LENNY A. Merritt was declared however was to be overweight
and was subsequently replaced by C. Eaton.
Race 7 ROYAL ABY P. Hammersley

As D. Craven was also indisposed he was replaced on TEKWILA by D. Tanti.

RACE 1
CALOUNDRA CRASH REPAIRS HANDICAP 1400 metres

FOLLOW MY FAITH jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier.
BANNING’S PAGE jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
PLEASANT FLIGHT was slow to begin.
Making the 800 metres turn RAZZAAM was tightened between PRINCESS MELINA and CASUAL RING which shifted out.
After passing the 600 metres SEMIPRECIOUS had to be steadied off the heels of DUTCH LAD which shifted in momentarily.

RACE 2
THE RACEBOOK COMPANY HANDICAP 1600 metres

NAKED SPUR and A LOT OF CLASS came together on two occasions after passing the 200 metres.

RACE 3
INCAMS HANDICAP 1200 metres

The explanation of trainer Robert Heathcote for the late scratching of TONTEN at 7.55am was accepted.
After jumping away awkwardly ALICIAN shifted in and made contact with BONDARA.
Near the 1000 metres BONDARA was inclined to over race and when being steadied shifted in and made contact with MARKET MAN.

RACE 4
FIRST CLASS FUNCTIONS HANDICAP 1000 metres

SHADOW SHOOTER and OUR BRINDABELLA were both slow to begin.
ST. ANTON jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start SHADOW SHOOTER had to be steadied when tightened for room between FLYING AMY and SHOW GOLD which was taken out by OUR BRINDABELLA.
After passing the 600 metres until after entering the straight SHADOW SHOOTER was held up for clear running.

Race 4 Contd..
Over the concluding stages OGLE was inconvenienced slightly between SHOW GOLD and FLYING AMY which shifted in.
A post race Veterinary examination of SHADOW SHOOTER failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 5
CALOUNDRA RUGBY LEAGUE HANDICAP 1800 metres

SPINNAKER lunged forward and made heavy contact with the starting gates and after being inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon was declared a late scratching at 2.45pm.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SPINNAKER were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 13c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 12c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable..
Trainer R. Bishop was advised a Veterinary certificate must be obtained for SPINNAKER prior to its next race start.
PETRONAS, HYDRO’S BOY, ROYAL SEA and ZAMCAY were all slow to begin.
Near the 600 metres MIGHT BE improved up on to the heels of HYDRO’S BOY and had to be steadied.
MIGHT BE lost the off hind plate during the event.

RACE 6
MARY HENZELL REAL ESTATE HANDICAP 1300 metres

LUCKY LAURIE was hampered shortly after the start between MISS CRABOPPLE and SCORSESE which was taken in by HAGAR THE HORRIBLE which was inclined to lay in.
After passing the 1000 metres MISS CRABOPPLE commenced to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of HAGAR THE HORRIBLE for some distance.
As a result of this incident SHOWZON which was following had to shift wider on the track to avoid the heels of MISS CRABOPPLE.

RACE 7
TREVOR MILLER RACING STABLES HANDICAP 1200 metres

HALOGEN STAR was slow to begin.
Approaching the 500 metres NEDIYM’S MEASURE improved up on to the heels of SPLENDIDO and had to be checked.
ROYAL ABY raced fiercely in the early and middle stages of the event.

RACE 8
POLLOCK INGRAM SOLICITORS HANDICAP 1400 metres

Trainer Dale Sutton was fined the sum of $50 for failing to have the ownership papers for HYSTERICAL BOSS in order. Mr. Sutton was also advised that the nomination for HYSTERICAL BOSS will be refused until this matter has been rectified.
D. Tanti was stood down by the Club Doctor and was subsequently replaced on HYSTERICAL BOSS by M. Smith-Lester.
SHARMEEN STAR was slow to begin and had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between KRONA ROSE and PRINCE ACADEMY both of which shifted ground.
After leaving the 500 metres SHARMEEN STAR improved up on to the heels of HYSTERICAL BOSS and had to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of that filly.


All winners were swabbed.
