STEWARDS REPORT Sunday February 3rd 2002

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Slow / Dead.
Moveable rail out 1 metre from the 850 to the 400 and in true position for the remainder.

Trainer J. Casey reported that following the running of the Caloundra Health Service Handicap GOLDEN ZENA pulled up lame in the off foreleg.

As apprentice C. Spry was indisposed he was replaced on TRUMP DOMINION (Race 2) by M. Rice and on FLYING ON (Race 6) by B. Albuino.

As Alan Abrahams was indisposed he was replaced on DEL MONTE (Race 2) by Dean Tanti and on MOUNTAIN AIR (Race 8) by Michael Pelling.

RACE 1
JOHN WILSON & PARTNERS HANDICAP 850 metres

Acting on Veterinary advice SWEETDEE was declared a late scratching at 9.20am

SAVANNAH BROOKE, which was kicked in the right shoulder prior to the start was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

AL GOL, BILLY JARRAH and SAVANNAH BROOKE all jumped away awkwardly.

KALINGA HERO was inclined to lay out making the home turn.

Over the concluding stages KALINGA HERO was inclined to shift out and away from PRINCE SAMURAI.

RACE 2
CHEF’S HAT KITCHENWARE HANDICAP 1600 metres

After jumping away awkwardly GOD’S CHARIOT shifted in and made heavy contact with REPSOL which in turn was taken in on to the heels of DEL MONTE and had to be steadied.

When being steadied off the heels of DEL MONTE near the 600 metres TOFU shifted in and made contact with the running rail.

After passing the 600 metres REPSOL had to be steadied off the tiring GOD’S CHARIOT.
Approaching the 100 metres TOFU improved up on to the heels of REPSOL and had to be steadied.

Near the 50 metres TOFU shifted out under pressure and made contact with REPSOL.

GOD’S CHARIOT lost the off fore plate during the event.

Following the running of Race 2 the track was upgraded to DEAD.

RACE 3
HOURIGAN’S RETRAVISION HANDICAP 1600 metres

ANOTHER OFFCUT and MCGILL were both slow to begin.

RACE 4
HONG KONG TOURISM BOARD HANDICAP 1200 metres

Shortly after the start BRASH TINO had to be steadied off the heels of SWERVIN’ MERVYN which shifted in. As a result of this incident COTTAGE ROOF was hampered.

After passing the 300 metres EMANCIPATE shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with WHITE RAJA. As a result HULA RUSH had to be steadied away from the heels of WHITE RAJA.

Near the 200 metres WHITE RAJA and EMANCIPATE brushed.

Following the event ALFRISTON pulled up distressed with heat stress and was treated accordingly.

RACE 5
BLACKLAW CIVIL CONTRACTORS HANDICAP 1400 metres

No racing incidents.

RACE 6
CASTLEMAINE PERKINS HANDICAP 1200 metres

GOLD ‘N’ BLUE shifted out at the start hampering SMOKEY HALO.

STUDLEY ROYAL made contact with the barrier partition on jumping away.

SPRING LOVER jumped away awkwardly.

When the pace slackened near the 1000 metres SMOKEY HALO commenced to over race and did so for some distance.

At the entrance to the straight DAZZER BOY shifted out and brushed STUDLEY ROYAL.
RACE 7
CRUSHERS LEAGUES CLUB HANDICAP 1300 metres

The explanation by trainer Gerald Ryan as to the reason TARGIE was nominated in this event when ineligible was accepted.

FRAMEWORTHY was slow to begin.

Jockey D. Tanti reported that COURT COBAIN failed to handle the track conditions in the early and middle stages of the event.

RACE 8
ALLROAD SURFACES HANDICAP 1000 metres

Trainer G. Ryan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for DEDEE TRUITT by the required time.

The start was delayed when THE HEAT IS ON broke through the barriers prior to the event. The gelding was subsequently inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

DEDEE TRUITT was slow to begin.

MCGINTY ROSE jumped away awkwardly.

After jumping away awkwardly CROWN HEIR shifted out and made heavy contact with IN THE JUDGE’S BOX.

Approaching the 800 metres DON’T SAY DANGER had to be steadied when tightened between YAROOMBA JACK and BALLN LAD which was inclined to lay in.

Jockey S. Galloway reported that IN THE JUDGE’S BOX failed to handle today’s track conditions and a post race Veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormality.
