FLYING SPARKS was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

When questioned regarding his riding tactics on JESTICA which raced mid field today when the horse normally races in the lead jockey B Stewart stated that after being fractious in the barriers the horse did not jump as anticipated and he was unable to hold his position outside the leader due to the horse shifting and away from AQUATIC DRIVE.
B Stewart added that the horse raced ungenerously around the first turn and continued to race ungenerously until racing under pressure in the home straight.
The explanation was noted.

Apprentice D Van Bekkum was cautioned for failing to exercise sufficient care when taking a tight run inside JESTICA near the 1300 metres where there was barely sufficient room when JESTICA was racing ungenerously. GLADMAC pulled hard in the middle stages and near the 700 metres shifted out taking AQUATIC DRIVE wider on the track. As GLADMAC had proved difficult for apprentice D Van Bekkum trainer K Munce was advised he should consider employing the services of a stronger rider on GLADMAC in future.
