Race 6: Suncare Community Services Class 4 H'cap - 1000m
1st – Youcantseeme 2nd – Guissepino 3rd – Serunai 4th – Courtyard Circle

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by jockey N. Thomas, rider of the 3rd placegetter, SERUNAI, against YOUCANTSEEME being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 700m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the official video, stewards established that near the 700m, SERUNAI blundered when tightened for room between MR STANDFAST (J. Bowditch), which shifted in slightly, and YOUCANTSEEME (A. Spinks), which shifted out and away from MONASHEE DIVA (A. Pattillo), which also shifted out slightly. Bearing in mind where the incident took place and the official margin between the relevant horses at the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the material extent of the interference suffered to SERUNAI warranted a reversal of placings, and therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one rider and as such no further action was taken.

REONMAY (D. Sparks) was momentarily held up near the 300m for clear running.

GUISSEPINO (M. Speers) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

AL FAWZI (S. Kennedy), MR STANDFAST (J. Bowditch) and SERUNAI (N. Thomas) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of ARHONDAS (J. Piper), which weakened noticeably in the straight, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Rounding the home turn, ON THE LEATHER shifted out around the heels of FALCONTEN (B. Evans) to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with the hind quarters of BRACKIN ROAD (N. Thomas). In this incident, FALCONTEN shifted out placing ON THE LEATHER in restricted room for a short distance thereafter. At a subsequent inquiry, B.
