GENERAL

As J. Morris was indisposed due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Apprentice B. Derbyshire was fined $100 for being in possession of a mobile phone in the jockeys' room.

Apprentice S. Payne was fined $100 for being in possession of a mobile phone in the jockeys' room.

R. Fradd was fined $100 for being in possession of a mobile phone in the jockeys' room.

Jockey B. El-Issa was reprimanded for misconduct in the jockeys’ room after leaving a stewards’ inquiry.

Apprentice L. Tarrant was fined $100 for being in possession of a mobile phone in the jockeys' room, and a further $200 for making a false and misleading statement when questioned by a steward regarding his possession of a mobile phone.

Race 1: BUDERIM PHARMACY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1800M

NEXT ERA – Inconvenienced and forced wider on the track near the 350m.

EXPLODED – Improved into a tight run to the inside of another runner near the 500m and had to be restrained.

TRY FOUR – Raced wide during the early stages.

IRISH MAMBO – Inconvenienced and forced wider on the track near the 350m.

SEONIA – Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken. Trainers’ representative indicated that in light of today’s performance they would consider the horse’s immediate racing future.

VAN HOOLIGAN – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Apprentice R. Vigar was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight.

Race 2: FENCEPAC MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

CARNECAR – Raced wide throughout.

PALEFACE ALI – T. Bell reported that his mount had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and as a result was not fully tested over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination A swab sample was taken.

ELEGANT MACHINE – Overraced when the pace slackened during the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn until near the 300m.

LA BOADICEA – Raced wide throughout.

GAMING ROOM – Slow to begin.

Race 3: GLENVIEW PAR 3 GOLF CLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

HERE HE IS – Slow to begin. B. El-Issa was found guilty of a charge under AR. 137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount, which ran 5th, out to the end of the race and was fined $500. In assessing penalty and taking into account the margin, stewards believed that jockey El-Issa’s actions had cost his mount 4th place.

KEEP THE RHYTHM – Raced wide throughout. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

ALO PAREE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 800m. Finished last. Trainer K. Munce was advised that the horse’s nomination would be restricted to country venues.

I’M SWEDISH – Slow to begin.

POLOIDAL – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: FORT KNOX STORAGE CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1400M

ELECTRIC DEE JAY – Jumped away awkwardly, made contact with another runner and lost ground. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice S. Payne indicated that whilst he would have liked to be positioned a little bit closer to the lead, he was satisfied with how the horse travelled, however the gelding only finished the race off fairly and overall was disappointing.

HIDDEN ROSE – Inconvenienced by another runner on jumping away.

Race 5: HENZELLS PELICAN WATERS FOUNDATION BM75 H’CAP – 1400M

MY QUILTER – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

REGALMANIA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

DEADLY DENNIS – Raced wide throughout. M. Hellyer reported that the horse laid out from approaching the 600m.

Race 6: RSM BIRD CAMERON MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

As D. Missen was unable to fulfil his engagement due to transport difficulties, P. Holmes was substituted as the rider of ANOTHER CAPTAIN.

INDESTRUCTIBLE – Raced three wide without cover.

ZAHA COUNTY – Had to be restrained when tightened for room in the early stages when racing greenly.

ANOTHER CAPTAIN – Raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer N. Hocking indicated that the gelding would now be sent for a spell and he would also give consideration to retiring the horse.

KAIZARI – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

QUEEN ISTONA – Rider G. Goold was obliged to stop riding and alter course to secure clear running near the 200m.

RADD’S ROSE – Had to be checked when tightened for room shortly after the start. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 700m.

FLINDERS PEAK – Jumped away awkwardly.

PERIWINKLE STAR – Slow to begin. Apprentice B. Appo was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m.

ZEEVA – Hung out throughout the event.

Race 7: ROYAL FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE SUNSHINE COAST AUXILIARY BM75 H’CAP – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed to hold for an interstate event in progress.

LISA LOST IT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

THE BLACK SUPERMAN – Slow to begin. P. Holmes reported that the horse laid in throughout the event, resulting in the horse making contact with the running rail for a substantial portion of the race. He said in his opinion the horse did not stretch out on today’s track surface and returned to scale awkward in its action. He added that the horse may appreciate a rain-affected track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

HLUDOWIG – Slow to begin.

Race 8: BUDERIM BENDIGO COMMUNITY BANK CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M

As B. El-Issa was stood down by the Club doctor following his ride in Race 5, A. Taylor was substituted as the rider of SUM IT UP. Jockey El-Issa was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to resume race riding.

SPINIFEX FIRE – Kicked out in barriers, removed, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

VALHALLA MIST – Trainer S. Ryan advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden in a rearward position. The horse was ridden accordingly.

HENNY’S HOPE – Had difficulty securing clear running near the 200m.

SUM IT UP – Raced wide without cover throughout.

IRRESISTIBLE ME – J. Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out, resulting in SPINIFEX FIRE being tightened on to the hindquarters of SAN CLEMENTE, which as a consequence was tightened on to VALHALLA MIST, which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. J. Taylor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 29 October and expire at midnight on Wednesday 5 November 2014.
