Race 1: WESTSIDE CORPORATION LTD ABBOTT MEMORIAL CLASS 5 HANDICAP. 1000 Metres.
(8 Starters).
1st - BORIS 2nd - SUPER ZERO 3rd - GATO 4th - TRIBAL SON

NOTIUS and FRANGELA were both scratched as no suitable rider was available. A Veterinary Certificate of Fitness was produced in respect to ALPHA STAR being fit to race. (Veterinary Incident Report No. 28339 refers)..

MONCHING (Apprentice J. King) was slow away and raced wide rounding the 800 metre turn.

SAVAGE HEMLINE (G. Cullen) raced wide all the way and SUPER ZERO (S. Watkin) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Before the declaration of correct weight, Jockey J. Long, the rider of the fourth placed horse TRIBAL SON, advised he wished to view the photo finish for third and fourth placings. On doing so, he was satisfied with the placings semaphored and correct weight was declared.

RACE 2: CAMPBELL’S TPT/HOLDEN’S BAKERY/ G.R.TERRY MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE. 1000 Metres. (9 Starters).
1st - OUTBACK ELSA 2nd - DANCIN’ MICK 3rd - CHINQUAPIN 4th - NOT A GREAT LOOK

STAND FIRM, GLISTEN and TEMPTING OFFER were all scratched as no rider was available.

At the start I’M TRIXIE (S. Galvin) was very slowly away. Trainer Mr. J. Swift was advised that the filly must successfully complete a jump out before starting again.

TYCOON MADAME (Apprentice J. King) was slow into stride and lost considerable ground.

DANCIN’ MICK (R. Sue-San), NOT A GREAT LOOK (T. Hill) and YACKI (M. Harris) all raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: HUGHENDEN SUPERMARKET/TROPIC DISTRIBUTORS LADIES BRACELET CLASS “B”. HANDICAP. 800 Metres. (9 Starters).
1st - LUCY LOU 2nd - MORTIE 3rd - GUSTO 4th - ISABELLA ESTHER

VENNOM, LITTLE MISS RICHES,. SEQUALO SUZIE and COLOUR BLUE were all scratched as no rider was available. Stewards permitted Jockey A. Spradau to ride GUSTO half a kilo overweight.

Trainer Mr R. Hermann was fined One Hundred Dollars for declaring Jockey Spradau as the rider for GUSTO without ensuring the Jockey was able to make the weight, AR 175(l) – AR 120(b).
Stewards inquired into an incident on the home turn where GOD SHE’S RAUNCHY (M. Harris) shifted out taking CLEOPATRA’S LIST (T. Hill), INVERSION (R. Sue-San) and COLLESTRADA (J. Long) wider on the track. Jockey Harris was severely reprimanded for careless riding in that he permitted GOD SHE’S RAUNCHY to shift ground when insufficiently clear. AR 137(a).

Race 4: BAYER ANIMAL HEALTH CLASS 3 HANDICAP. 1200 Metres. (9 Starters).
1st - SUDDENLY SWEET 2nd - PUFFED 3rd - CRAIGLEA EDGE 4th - SPANISH SUN

M. Harris was a late riding engagement for PORTUGUESE.

CLANCHY was a late scratching as no rider was available.

PUFFED (S. Galvin) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the barriers after Jockey S. Galvin became concerned about its gait. Nothing untoward was found and the mare was passed fit to start. (Veterinary Incident Report No. 28340 refers).

PORTUGUESE was slowly away and raced wide throughout.

SUDDENLY SWEET (A. Spradau) and CRAIGLEA EDGE ((Apprentice J. King) both raced wide rounding the 800 metre turn.

Race 5: PARRY NISSAN STAMFORD CUP OPEN HANDICAP. 1200 Metres. (7 Starters).
1st - REIGNING TO WIN 2nd - RONTGEN 3rd - GOLDEN PORTRAIT 4th - SNAGPOT

BIKRAM (S. Galvin) raced wide in the early stages and shifted in near the 1000 metres causing GOLDEN PORTRAIT (J.Long) to momentarily race in restricted room.

INDOLLARGENCE (R. Sue-San) raced wide rounding the 800 metres turn.

REIGNING TO WIN (G. Cullen), INDOLLARGENCE and SNAGAPOT (Apprentice J. King) each raced wide rounding the home turn.

Near the 200 metres REIGNING TO WIN shifted inwards and caused SNAGAPOT to race in restricted room for a short distance.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

GENERAL
There were only nine jockeys in attendance at this meeting. Ten runners who gained a start plus one emergency were unable to obtain riders.
On entering onto the track for Race Two, Clerk of the Course Mr A. ANDERSON was dislodged after his horse reared and he suffered a minor injury. He was replaced in his duties by Mr. D. HAWKINS.
