Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE - 1075 METRES
1st – RAFIR 2nd – IN THE STUDY 3rd – SIMPLE JUSTICE 4th – TRIPLE THE FUN
D Critch the trainer of IN THE STUDY was fined the sum of $50.00 under LR42 for having an incorrect stable return.
RAFIR (N Evans) which was slow to begin then raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race.
Race 2 : CLASS B HANDICAP- 1075 METRES
1st – MAGIC MONTY 2nd – SANZA’S JOY 3rd – CHENKA 4th – BIG BAZZA
CHENKA (R Hall) , OUTLAY (M Harris) , DRAMA IN THE WINGS (M Barnham) and BIG BAZZA (App. K Treble) were all slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m CALEDONIAN CLASS (App. B Agland) which was racing ungenerously had to be steadied off the heels of SANZA’S JOY (N Evans).
Leaving the 800m OUTLAY (M Harris) had to be steadied off the heels of CHENKA (R Hall) which shifted out. R Hall the rider of CHENKA was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
DRAMA IN THE WINGS (M Barnham) raced wide for the majority.
Race 3 : CAV’S 30TH B’DAY CLASSIC CLASS 3 PLATE S/W - 1200 METRES
1st – EASY DANCING 2nd – SPY CHASE 3rd – CRAIGLEA STORM 4th – BOLD PHARAOH
SPY CHASE (App. B Agland) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Apprentice K Treble the rider of BOLD PHARAOH was reminded about her obligations to ride her mount out to the finish.
Race 4: FLEMINGTON EQUINE CLIINIC OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 METRES
1st – HENAVARI 2nd – SCARLET SARI 3rd – HIGHEST POWER 4th – DREAMS OF WEALTH
SCARLET SARI which suffered lacerations to it’s off side hind leg en-route to the track was inspected by the clubs veterinarian surgeon and cleared to start.
DREAMS OF WEALTH (App. B Agland) jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
SCARLET SARI (N Evans) began awkwardly and lost ground as a result.
EXCITUM (J Stephens) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 5: MAIDEN PLATE S/W - 1400 METRES
1st – LADY SHABANG 2nd – GOLD THOUGHT 3rd – AS CUSTOMARY 4th – IZZIRICH
BLUE TOM was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon behind the barriers prior to the start and was found to be lame in the off side front leg. BLUE TOM was declared a late scratching at 4.29pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered all monies invested on BLUE TOM to be refunded and deductions of 00032 cents on the face value of all win bets and 29 cents on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Trainer Mr F Smith’s stable representative Miss S Smith was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to the horse racing again.
AS CUSTOMARY (App. K Treble) was slow to begin.
REDHEADS (M Harris) raced wide for the majority.
