The explanation regarding the late rider declaration for MOISTEN was accepted.
COPY THIS (A. Coome) was fractious in the barrier prior to the start being effected.
HIDDEN NATURE (L. Dillon) bounded in the air as the start was effected and was slow into stride. Jockey Dillon reported that he has anticipated leading or being in a forward position.
Near the 800 metres, SEISIA (App I French) laid out and lost some ground.
MOISTEN (App K Aho) raced wide in the early and middle stage until near the 400 metres.
BREAKIN RULES (App K Gates) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Biloela Quality Meats Open Handicap - 1075 metres
1st – OTANGO 2nd – JEALOUS GUY 3rd – BALLROOM DANCE 4th – KISS THE GROOM
Short delay to correct weight as Jockey C Pye viewed the patrol film to ascertain if any grounds existed to lodge an objection against the winner. After doing so, Jockey Pye, with Trainer T Cook, declined to proceed and correct weight was declared.
Shortly after the start, TROPIC GEM (L. Dillon) raced in restricted room between BALLROOM DANCE (J. Stephens) and JEALOUS GUY (C. Pye) and then laid in for a short distance.
Approaching the 800 metres, NINEDAYFORNIGHT (S. McGovern) hung out. After being shifted back closer to the running rail, the mare hung out slightly racing around the home turn. Trainer J Devine was advised a further warning would be placed against the mare and a bar would be imposed for a further instance of hanging out in races.
Stewards questioned Jockey L Dillon regarding his vigour in the straight on TROPIC GEM. Jockey Dillon stated he placed the mare under pressure from the 400 metres, at which stage TRPOIC GEM responded and improved in the early stages of the straight. However, from near the 100 metres, the mare had peaked on its run and would derive fitness from todays run.
Race 3: Biloela Dry Cleaners Class 4 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st – SINDIBAD 2nd – TOP MESSIAH 3rd –HONOUR JACKO 4th – RUSHATUS
As Jockey S McCullum failed to produce a medical certificate of fitness, he was replaced by Jockey S Evans on RUSHATUS.
Prior to the start, GREYWIN (App K Gates) got its head down and attempted to get under the barrier gate and dislodged the rider. The mare was vetted and App Gates satisfied to ride the horse. A warning was placed against GREYWIN.
GUILIETTA (T. O’Hara) began awkwardly and was eased when placed between FICKLE BUSINESS (S. McGovern) which was taken out by HONOUR JACKO (I. Coombes) and NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC (C. Pye) which shifted ground.
Race 4: CMC Maiden Plate- 1400 metres
1st – LITTLE DAZZLER 2nd – BELLA BEIJING 3rd – IF ONLY THEY KNEW 4th – AWESOME SMILE
NORTHERN WAR LORD (App K Gates) underwent a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barrier at the request of the rider. The gelding was cleared to start.
The start was delayed when Stewards notified the starter than NO INVOLVEMENT (J. Stephens) and AWESOME SMILE (I. Coombes) had been placed in the incorrect barriers and this had to be rectified.
NO INVOLVEMENT and BELLA BEIJING (S. McGovern) made contact on jumping and BELLA BEIJING lost some ground.
When questioned regarding the performance of MYSTERY CHARGER, Jockey L Dillon reported the gelding had begun with the field however had failed to muster speed. He further stated the gelding had felt flat and may need to be freshened up.
Post-race veterinary inspections of MYSTERY CHARGER and NO INVOLVEMENT did not reveal any abnormalities.
Jockey S McGovern viewed the photo finish image for 1st prior the declaration of correct weight. After doing so, he was satisfied as the judge’s placings.
Race 5: Paul Hibble Memorial Class 3 Plate- 1400 metres
1st – SWING AND SING 2nd – PERFECT KNOWLEDGE 3rd – CARROT 4th – NO RISQUE
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey S Evans viewed the patrol film of the start of the race. After doing so, and in consultation with Trainer R Bowen, application was made to be declared a non-runner due to RIVER OF DREAMS being denied a fair start when the barrier failed to open with the field.
Following evidence from Jockey Evans, comments from Mr. Bowen and viewing the patrol films, Stewards established that the barrier gate had failed to open in unison with the remainder and as a result RIVER OF DREAMS had been denied a fair start. Given the provisions of AR 134A and that the mare had placed 5th, RIVER OF DREAMS was declared a non-runner, with all bets to be refunded with winning bets to be paid less deductions of 8c Win and 8c place.
When questioned regarding the tactis on CARROT, Jockey C Pye stated she had been instructed to lead as the mare was accustomed to over sprint distances at its previous starts. Jockey Pye stated she pressure the mare forward in the early stages and was then unable to restrain.
Near the 1000 metres, THE PANTZ (S. McGovern) rolled in marginally and took PERFECT KNOWLEDGE (T. O’Hara) in onto RIVER OF DREAMS (S. Evans) which was eased.
On return to scale, it was observed that SWING AND SING had bled from its near side nostril. The mare would be required to gallop over 1000 metres prior to its next start.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
