Rail out 6.5 metres from 1000 metres to home turn.

RACE 1 OPEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 5 STARTERS
MR STEINEY jumped with it's head in the air and over raced for some distance in the middle of the race.

RACE 2 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1650 METRES 9 STARTERS
JOCK'S LODGE was slow to start. At the 1400 metres AGINDALE commenced to race ungenerously and lose ground. AMPEZZO which was following had to be steadied off the heels of AGINDALE. YOUNG NORWEGIAN shifted in under pressure over the final 200 metres requiring App D Crossland to stop riding and straighten his mount. AGINDALE cast a plate in running.

RACE 3 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP Div 1 1200 METRES 11 STARTERS
SWING BAND jumped in taking NOVACAN in onto FEAR YOWIE and LITTLE AL who were both checked. ZEBU and FIERY PASSION were both slow to begin. SWING BAND commenced to hang in for some distance after the start. Passing the 800 metres LITTLE AL, when steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN SPECIAL over reacted and shifted out forcing FIERY PASSION wider on the track. At the 700 metres SWING BAND had to be steadied off the heels MISS KUMAGI which shifted in. FEAR YOWIE commenced to hang in when placed under pressure over the final 350 metres. This matter was bought to the attention of Trainer B Seaton. Over the concluding stages MISS KUMAGI and PEE JAY BLUE both shifted out under pressure.

RACE 4 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP Div 2 1200 METRES 10 STARTERS
SEMI GLO was slow to begin. Shortly after the start HOLLYWOOD LADY commenced to buck and consequently dislodged Jockey J Cairns. HOLLYWOOD LADY will be required to undergo a series of trials before being permitted to race again. Jockey M Deguara (NO DANCE) was found guilty of a charge of Careless Riding (AR 137 a) by allowing NO DANCE to shift in at the 600 metres causing BRILLIANT CHARM (C Symons) and COOYONG (M McDuff) to both be checked. The Jockeys License of M Deguara was suspended from midnight on the 25th March 2000, up to and including 4th April 2000. Making the home turn COOYONG shifted out to improve hampering NO DANCE. Jockey M McDuff, the rider of COOYONG was advised to exercise care. Following this event, Jockey J Cairns was examined by the Ambulance officer and certified fit for further riding engagements.

RACE 5 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 7 STARTERS
At the start MANN AVENUE, PEMBROOK and NASDAQ brushed. At the 700 metres AUSSIE GOLD had to be checked away from the heels of MANN AVENUE which shifted in. Jockey M Deguara (MANN AVENUE) pleaded guilty to a charge of Careless Riding (AR 137a) by allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of AUSSIE GOLD. Jockey M Deguara was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 25th March 2000 up to and including 15th April 2000.

RACE 6 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 12 STARTERS
Prior to the event Trainer G Pierce advised it was his intention if possible to change the tactics on SPECIAL SLOT and have the filly ridden off the pace. A pre race veterinary examination of CLAN WOLF passed that gelding fit to start..
FOX DOCTOR was slow to begin When the gates opened SAINTLY WALK jumped out hampering CYCLONE ZAMM, SPECIAL SLOT and BELLESHANI (NZ). At the 800 metres XENA'S MAGIC shifted out forcing SAINTLY WALK out onto CYCLONE ZAAM. CLAN WOLF was also forced wider in this incident. Jockey M Deguara (FOX DOCTOR) was charged and found guilty of contravening AR 137 (a) by riding in a careless manner by allowing his mount to shift out approaching the home turn, causing BELLESHANI (NZ) to be checked. M Deguara was suspended from riding races to commence midnight 25th March 2000, up to and including 22nd April 2000. The stewards ruled that all suspensions incurred by Jockey M Deguara were to be served concurrently. Over the concluding stages, CITY SON (I Toward) shifted ground when placed under pressure. I Toward was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten his mount in simular circumstances. CYCLONE ZAM returned to scale with blood in the off nostril A veterinary examination revealed aggravation of a previous laceration in the nostril

RACE 7 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 7 STARTERS
QUIETLY QUIETLY was slow to begin. CHILLILANE and FOREVER GAELIC were tightened for room at the start between BRONZE HERO and ALLEZ DREAMS which shifted in marginally. At the 400 metres SIR SASHI was held up for clear running and unable to improve.

RACE 8 CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1650 METRES 8 STARTERS
LINE YOUR POSKETS was sent for a pre-race swab. AMAZING DIAMOND was slow to begin. ANOTHER SOUND threw an off side front shoe at the 100 metre point. Jockey GD Kliese was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of IDLE BRIDLE. Jockey Kliese advised that IDLE BRIDLE was under pressure as far as 700 metres from the finish and only ran home fairly.

RACE 9 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1320 METRES 12 STARTERS
The starting time for this event was put back to 5:20 p.m. to avoid inter-state clashes. FLYING LOCKET and SAHARA DIGGER were both slow to begin. CHOSEN CALIBRE (C Symons) jumped in at the start causing a tightening to MOORABIN which was taken in onto BOLD POWER and RUFUS EM. Jockey C Symons was reprimanded for failing to take measures to alleviate the tightening earlier. Making the first turn RUFUS EM had to be steadied away from the heels of HELEN'S PRIDE which shifted in. An Inquiry was opened into the reason why ACECAY KINGDOM (D Sewell) and EXPLOSIVE BOY (F Edwards) both being severely checked approaching the 1000 metres. After taking evidence from both riders and also C Whiteley (FLOATERS) and P Cullen (SAHARA DIGGER), it was established that SAHARA DIGGER had shifted in and away from the heels of FLOATERS when racing in restricted room resulting in EXPLOSIVE BOY and ACECAY KINGDOM both being severely tightened for room. At the 700 metres MOORABIN had to be steadied away from the heels of CHOSEN CALIBRE which shifted in momentarily. Jockey C Symons was advised to exercise care. KENFLOW hung in when placed under pressure over the final 300 metres. EXPLOSIVE BOY was held up for clear running making the home turn.
