The performance of BENTLEY BAY and SHOW TALK was queried by Stewards. RACE 2 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1315 METRES 11 STARTERS
When the start was effected READY RED jumped outward and contacted PRICELESS DANCER which shifted outward. As a consequence, CLAN WOLF shied away and in turn, UNMANIFEST, which was slow into stride, was obliged to ease to avoid the heels of YOUNG NORWEGIAN. An Inquiry was opened into an incident near 600 metre mark, where CLAN WOLF (D Andrews) appeared to be hampered by NATIVE BARON (R Gallacher). Jockey Gallacher stated his mount was hanging outward through the race and shifted in abruptly near 600 metre mark, and hampered CLAN WOLD. Jockey D Andrews stated initially that CLAN WOLD was racing inside the heels of NATIVE BARON for some time before the incident and may have contributed to the incident by galloping on to the heels of NATIVE BARON. Deliberating on evidence and patrol film, Jockey R Gallacher was reprimanded and Jockey D Andrews was cautioned as to her responsibility of giving evidence at an Inquiry AR 175 (g)
RACE 3 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 13 STARTERS
As the gates opened, HELEN'S PRIDE jumped outward. TAG ALONG and ACECAY KINGDOM came together and HAPPY GATHERING was hampered when WOULD BE FAMOUS jumped outward. Jockey G Watson informed Stewards at an Inquiry into an incident near 900 metre mark, although it may appear his mount WOULD BE FAMOUS was hampered by DANCE THE HEIGHTS, in fact he had elected to settle the Gelding at that point in the race, but the horse was reluctant to do so and threw it's head in the air on more than one occasion. DANCE THE HEIGHTS from the extreme outside barrier, was forced wide throughout the race.

No incidents in running.
RACE 5 2YO HANDICAP 1000 METRES 14 STARTERS
When the start was effected, MORGAN'S MAGIC was hampered and became unbalanced when PINBALL PADDY jumped outward and cannoned that gelding into BISTRO which jumped slightly inward. Jockey K Gover was reprimanded for failing to straighten his mount THE TABLELANDER after that gelding jumped inward and contacted BRILLIANT CHARM which had to be checked and lose ground. The incident was compounded when POLISH COUNT jumped outward and contributed to the incident. Jockey C Whiteley did straighten POLISH COUNT and an attempt to ease the pressure on BRILLIANT CHARM. BLUE MISSILE was fractious in the boxes and was reluctant to jump and lost considerable ground at the start. Trainer R McLachlan was informed that a warning be placed on the gelding and a repeat of same, the gelding would have to barrier trial before starting.
RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP 1645 METRES 9 STARTERS
ROMA LAD threw it's head in the air when the gates opened and lost ground. The gelding continued to throw it's head in the air for some distance. Jockey J Schager informed Stewards the gelding may have put it's tongue over the bit and reacted to her efforts to settle the horse in the early stages of the race.
RACE 7 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 9 STARTERS
NOTHING TO HIDE, knuckled when the gates opened and lost ground. TONCETTO jumped with it's head in the air and inwards and contacted ROSENEATH JESTER. Jockey K Gover was reprimanded for crowding ELROD near 800 metre mark for no reason. Jockey G Watson was cautioned and advised of his responsibility to make sure he is clear of other runners when shifting ground when LOGGER BAY was momentarily inconvenienced near 100 metre mark.

When the start was effected GRUYERE FLYER jumped outward and brushed MAGIC MOUSTACHE. MISTER MO and ARGYLE KNIGHT came together just after the start when both horses shifted ground. As a result ARGYLE KNIGHT was put onto the heels of PASQUANEL and had to ease. The gelding then raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race. RUFUS EM was unable to obtain a run throughout the race and had to ease rounding the home turn and shift out to obtain a clear run. AUSSIE GOLD was also obliged to ease near 250 mark as no run was available.
All winners were sent to be swabbed.
