General:
When apprentice C Ings was transported to Hospital following the running of race 1, stewards permitted the following changes as per the Stewards summary.

Race 1: Master Builders North Queensland Maiden Plate 1400 metres:
1st – AWESOME HORSESOM 2nd – HILTON MISS 3rd – SILVER BOWS 4th – ROUND THE CORNER

SILVER BOWS – Slow to begin. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight and near the 150m shifted out abruptly resulting in apprentice C Ings becoming unbalanced. Passing the winning post the mare shifted in marginally resulting in apprentice C Ings again becoming unbalanced and ultimately being dislodged. Apprentice C Ings was transported by ambulance to Townsville Hospital for further observation. Acting under the provisions of AR142 stewards declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers.

SHAREEFAH – When questioned regarding the performance jockey W D’Avila explained that the mare never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race and was disappointing.

Race 2: Buss (Q) Industry Super Class 3 Plate 1630 metres:
1st – BLU AXIS 2nd – COUSIN ANDY 3rd – STRAITSOFGIBRALTOR 4th – DON’T THINK DO

DON’T THINK DO – Knuckled on jumping away.

MAINSHAFT – On return to scale jockey G Kliese reported that his mount which was stepping up 600m in distance pulled hard throughout and refused to settle.

STRAITSOFGIBRALTOR – When questioned regarding the gelding racing back in the field today jockey W D’Avila explained that with the anticipated strong tempo and after beginning only fairly he was able to obtain a rearward position with cover where the gelding travelled comfortably throughout. His explanation was noted.

Race 3: Global Welding Supplies Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres:
1st – MAL’S PRIDE 2nd – REGENCY ROYALE 3rd – BARBUDA 4th – RISE TO THE TOP

MIATA – Was a late withdrawal at 1.15pm when no rider was available.

BARBUDA – Was slow to begin.

RISE TO THE TOP – Laid in in the early part of the straight and was awkwardly placed on heels.

Race 4: Master Builders North Queensland Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – ROYAL PHYSICIAN 2nd – SHE BEE STINGIN’ 3rd – EXCAPISHE 4th – NICSKIOFFSKI

OUR IRIS – Was a late withdrawal at 7.47am when no rider was available.

PUBLIC AFFAIR – Was a late withdrawal at 2.20pm when no rider was available.

SHE BEE STINGIN’ – Was slow to begin.

Passing the 800m SHE BEE STINGIN’ had to be checked after improving quickly to the inside of SLICK SHOES which was taken inwards by NICSKIOFFSKI which in turn and had been directed inwards by ROYAL PHYSICIAN (F Edwards) which shifted in marginally when not quite clear. Jockey F Edwards was asked to exercise more care in the future.

Race 5: Dan Thomson Architectural Drafting Benchmark 70 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – VICOMTE 2nd – FRAIDSO 3rd – BELLASPIRIT 4th – DROP SHOT

BELLASPIRIT – Slow to begin.
