SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
RACE 1: CROWS NEST MAIDEN PLATE – 1024M.
S Killen (GOD’S EQUAL) replaced K Yoshida. K Yoshida will be interviewed at a later date why he failed to fulfil his engagement.
Stewards placed a warning on GAMBBA GIRL, which was very slowly away.
FRAAREVA lost ground when jumping away awkwardly and shortly after was checked from the heels of GOD’S EQUAL, which shifted out after making contact with SAW THRU THEM.
KEEPING AMUSED jumped away with its head in the air.
CASACO jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start and approaching the 800m LONDON BELLE shifted in and made contact with KEEPING AMUSED.
Near the 700m the saddle on KEEPING AMUSED slipped down the near side giving H Hamada a very difficult ride for the remainder of the race. On returning to scale when inspecting the gear Stewards were satisfied that that the girth and surcingle were tight and the gear was in good condition. Stewards subsequently advised Trainer G Hatch and H Hamada that they are of the opinion that there was too much packing under the saddle and that is the most likely reason for the saddle slipping. Stewards further advised H Hamada that it would be far better riding in a heavier saddle with less packing.
When questioned about the disappointing performance of FRAAREVA, Jockey N Evans stated that his mount lost ground when it jumped away awkwardly and shortly after he had to check from the heels of GOD’S EQUAL, which shifted out. N Evans further stated that from that stage his mount did not travel at any stage and did not appear to be stretching out. When questioned why he did not ride his mount more aggressively in the early and middle stages and down the home straight, N Evans stated that he had pushed his mount along with his hands in the early and middle stages and he did not pull the whip in the home straight as his mount was too far back to finish in the money. Trainer H Richardson stated that he has been having trouble recently with FRAAREVA tying up and he had to withdraw her from an Ipswich meeting recently because of the problem. Mr Richardson further stated that even though the mare was coming back in distance he and N Evans thought she had a good chance of winning. The only excuse Mr Richardson could forward was that the mare might still be feeling the effects of the tying problem, explanation noted. Stewards advised N Evans that his explanation is noted and in future Stewards expect to see him ride more aggressively in an attempt to have his mount in a more forward position in the early and middle stages.
Time off 4.03 PM.
RACE 2: RANGE, FM CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1122M.
MAMBO STAR, which jumped away awkwardly, was steadied shortly after when cramped for room by SOUTHBROOK KID, which shifted in marginally.
Near the 850m MAMBO STAR was steadied when crowded for room by SOUTHBROOK KID, which shifted in.
Leaving the 800m ROSE OF KWILA and CANADIAN BLUE were taken out by SOUTHBROOK KID, which was taken out by LIGHT OUR FIRE, which shifted out whilst hanging out. MAMBO STAR, which was racing behind LIGHT OUR FIRE got its head up and shifted out whilst being eased from LIGHT OUR FIRE’S heels.
Near the 700m MEMPHIS EXPRESS was steadied from the heels of SUNBURT SANTA, which shifted in.
On the point of the home turn MAMBO STAR was steadied from the heels LIGHT OUR FIRE, which shifted in marginally.
Approaching the 50m MEMPHIS EXPRESS and SOUTHBROOK KID were steadied when CANADIAN BLUE (S Richardson), shifted in under pressure. S Richardson was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.
Time off 4.45 PM.
RACE 3: MADDISON HEBBARD, SEVEN TOOWOOMBA CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1226M.
Due to a clerical error in the racebook, A Parramore was not shown as the rider for LADY BREAKFAST.
N Evans (VAIN AND HANDY) was fined the sum of $100 for sending the wrong saddlecloth number out.
SIR BISC and CUT OF DIAMONDS both lost ground when jumping away awkwardly.
VAIN AND HANDY, which was slowly away, was eased from heels approaching the 1000m.
When questioned why VAIN AND HANDY got so far back in the early stages, jockey N Evans stated that he was instructed by Trainer C Castles to ride the gelding quietly in the early stages and to start improving from the 500m. N Evans further stated that once he placed his mount under pressure from the 500m he failed to respond and was very disappointing in the home straight, explanation noted. Mr Castles confirmed that he and the owner wanted the horse ridden quietly. A subsequent Veterinary examination of VAIN AND HANDY revealed that the gelding was coughing and may have a respiratory infection coming on.
Time off 5.20 PM.
RACE 4: QRSE ALQUIP CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1326M.
MAGIC GOLD was slow into stride.
Near the 900m FLYING DEVIL was steadied from the heels of CERTAIN HARMONY, which shifted in.
Approaching the 450 MAGIC GOLD (B Appo) shifted in and made contact with SPECIAL DEPOSIT. Shortly after NOBLE JACKPOT, SPECIAL DEPOSIT and MAGIC GOLD were all tightened for room by FLYING DEVIL (B Johnson), which rolled in whilst tiring. B Appo and B Johnson were both reprimanded for permitting their mounts to shift ground when insufficiently clear. In the first incident the saddle on SPECIAL DEPOSIT started to shift to the near side and in the second incident the saddle shifted further to the near side giving G Lynch a difficult ride for the remainder of the race. G Lynch was subsequently dislodged at the pull up. G Lynch was not injured in the incident.
CERTAIN HARMONY lost its off hind plate during running.
Time off 5.55 PM.
RACE 5: QRSE LEN PATTI MOTORS CLASS 4 H'CAP – 2100M.
The track was down graded to dead at 6.05 pm.
N Evans (REPRENDRE) replaced R Hancock who was involved in a race fall at Kilcoy.
Approaching the 1800m TYCOON JESTER was steadied when crowded for room by, FIL THE BILL, which was taking in by CALM ACTION, which shifted in whilst lying in.
FIL THE BILL pulled fiercely and raced ungenerously from leaving the 1800m until the 1200m where the rider allowed the gelding to stride to the front.
Approaching the 1000m AQUA LEONE shifted in and made contact with BRIGALOW SCRUB.
Near the 400m AQUA LEONE was eased from the heels of REPREDRE, which was tiring.
Time off 6.37 PM.
RACE 6: MARCUS OSBORNE, SEVEN TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN H'CAP – 1640M.
N Evans (BOSTON PUBLIC) replaced R Goltz.
N Tomizawa (DIAMONDANA) replaced P Spry who was involved in race fall at Kilcoy.
R McMahon (HARBORD) replaced S Drake who was held up at the Kilcoy races.
The track was downgraded to slow at 6.45 pm.
STAGE BOY was withdrawn at 6.10 pm after the stable representative made an application to withdraw the gelding due to the track being downgraded. Stewards advised the stable representative that a slow to heavy track bar would be placed on STAGE BOY.
KALINGA TIGER was slowly away.
Leaving the 500m HARBORD was eased from the heels of BOSTON PUBLIC (N Evans), which shifted in.
Near the 400m BOSTON PUBLIC shifted out taking HARBORD onto DIAMONDANA, which had been taking in marginally, by JADE FLYER.
GREENBACK shifted out once placed under pressure in the home straight.
DIAMONDANA lost its near hind plate during running.
Time off 7.12 PM.
RACE 7: SEVEN TOOWOOMBA QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP – 1226M.
B Appo (LUKE TOMAHAWK) replaced P Spry.
Stewards granted permission to remove the blinkers and pacifiers from LUKE TOMAHAWK due to the wet conditions.
At the start CAP D’OR was crowded for room between JUNK IN THE TRUCK, which jumped out and BATTLE AT SEA, which jumped in.
SPELL SONG jumped in as the gates opened.
G Geran was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount ABOVE THE HORIZON to shift in when insufficiently clear of JUNK IN THE TRUNK, causing that horse to be taken in tightening the running of SILVER NOTE and SCARLET CITY, resulting in SCARLET CITY losing ground when making heavy contact with the running rail and JUNK IN THE TRUNK and SILVER NOTE being eased. G Geran was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings as of mid-night 20-11-04 and to expire at mid- night 4-12-04.
Approaching the 950m JUNK IN THE TRUNK got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of ABOVE THE HORIZON.
