RACE 1: MCNAB CONSRUCTIONS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1119M.

COINTREAU AND ICE was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 8.15 am.

Trainer D Gollan informed stewards that he is going to instruct S Galvin to ride LION’S IMAGE off the pace in the early stages.

SHOW POKER jumped away awkwardly.

GREAT EMMA, OH RUBY and STOMPEY SEPOY were slowly away.

Leaving the 900m LION’S IMAGE got its head up whilst being eased when crowded for room by CHARIOTEER.

Near the 350m LION’S IMAGE and STOMPEY SEPOY made contact when LION’S IMAGE attempted to shift around the heels of CHARIOTEER.

On the point of the home turn LION’S IMAGE and STOMPEY SEPOY were taken wider on the track by CHARIOTEER, which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Leaving the 200m STOMPEY SEPOY was eased from the heels of SERENA’S GRACE when both horses shifted in.

Approaching the 100m LION’S IMAGE shifted in and brushed the running rail.

CHARIOTEER shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

SERENA’S GRACE and PIE AND COKE raced wide in the early and middle stages.

When questioned why LION’S IMAGE got so far back in the middle stages, apprentice S Galvin stated that he was instructed to ride his mount quietly. Stewards advised S Galvin there is no doubt LION’S IMAGE finished the race off much better than at recent starts when ridden for speed. S Galvin was further advised, stewards were aware of the instructions but there is no doubt that he has certainly over done the instructions particularly from the 800m until the 500m. Stewards subsequently severely reprimanded S Galvin for what they considered was a lack of judgement between the 800m and 500m. When considering the penalty stewards took into account that S Galvin has only limited experience in the provincial areas and also the instructions were taken into account.

Time off 3.42 PM.

RACE 2: TOOWOOMBA BMW CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1320M.

SHEZAWRAN, which reared and got over the partition of the barriers, was cleared by the veterinary surgeon to start.

IF MAROOF raced wide in the early and middle stages.

THE FITTER hung out in the early and middle stages.

MAJESTIC RADIANCE was held up for clear running over the last 200m.

COSSANTE was taken in by GRAND SEMI, which shifted in over the concluding stages.

The saddle on OLYMPIC TIME (J Warrington) shifted to the near side near the 50m.

Apprentice M Sano was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that leaving the 400m he permitted his mount IF MAROOF to shift in when insufficiently clear of RANGEVIEW LADY (A Merritt), resulting in RANGEVIEW LADY being severely checked. M Sano was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings as of mid – night 1-10-05 and to expire at mid – night 12-10-05.

FAME SECA and LEGAL MISS raced wide throughout.

When questioned about the apparent improved performance of LIVERY, trainer P Clarke stated that the gelding finished strongly at both his runs at Moree over 1400m and 1300m. P Clarke further stated that he thought the gelding would win at Talwood on the 17/09/05 and the only excuse he could offer is that the gelding hung out throughout, explanation noted.

Time off 7.37 PM.
