Following a track inspection at 3.10 p.m. Stewards upgraded the track to slow.
RACE 1: LEN PATTI MOTORS CLASS 1 HCP 1640M
Trainer S. Watters (MAJOR STAR) fined $50 for failing to submit amended stable return under rule LR42.
STRICTLY DRY and TENNESSEE JOHN were both slowly away.
DANE PRINCE made the 1400m crossing awkwardly.
Leaving the 1500m, the saddle of LIBRE PISTE slipped forward placing the rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
Leaving the 1400m BEAUZIG hung in away from BIG RIVER BURNING and in doing so caused inconvenience to JUNGLE MONARCH, which was forced to ease. Jockey B. Thomson reminded of her obligations.
RULES FOR LIFE held up for clear running from the 500m until leaving the 400m.
Jockey M. Tarrant (BIRRI) suffered a harmless fall after passing the winning post.
Tnr P. Kalinowski was advised that a warning would be placed on STRICTLY DRY regarding her disappointing performance, she was further advised that should the mares’ performances not improve Stewards would consider placing a provincial ban on the mare.

RACE 2: FITTON INSURANCE QTIS 2-Y-O MAIDEN HCP 1024M
Trainer T. Webb (TIRELIRE) fined $50 failing to declare rider by the appointed time under rule LR70.
Jockey P. Spry (SO HIGHFALUTIN) replaced J. McKinnon who failed to arrive by the appointed time from another venue.
TIME LION was slowly into stride.
Leaving the 800m FLOWINGCOMET shifted out tightening the running of UNTOUCH A BELLE, which was forced to check.
Approaching the 500m FLOWINGCOMET eased from the heels of TIRELIRE, which shifted in.
Leaving the 400m FLOWINGCOMET rolled in hampering the tiring TIRELIRE.
UNTOUCH A BELLE forced to race wide on the home turn.
TIRELIRE raced greenly in the straight.
A post race Veterinary inspection of TIRELIRE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3: THE GLENNIE SCHOOL P & F CLASS 3 HCP 1024M
AWESOME FLASH blundered as the gates opened.
TAABINGA LASS raced wide throughout.
FRISCO’S ROSE held up for clear running between the 400m to the 300m.
TAABINGA LASS shifted out nearing the 200m hampering FRISCO’S ROSE.

RACE 4: 3-WAY PHOTOS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 HCP 1326M
ESCUTCHEONS jumped in at the start hampering WIMMELOTS OF CASH, which was slow to begin.
LADY OF COURAGE shifted out abruptly after jumping.
WIMMELOTS OF CASH raced wide from the 700m to the home turn.

RACE 5: MELBOURNE CUP DAY AT CLIFFORD PARK CLASS 4 HCP 1326M
Stewards accepted the explanation from Tnr B. Bonython as to the reason for the late declaration of rider for GEE JAY BEE.
HOODOO VOODOO raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the race.
Over the concluding stages HOODOO VOODOO rolled in under pressure taking PREMEDITATE in causing tightening to GEE JAY BEE.

RACE 6: RADIO 93.7 FM MAIDEN PALTE 1326M
BLIND MAN’S BLUFF and NOTABLE VICTORY came into contact on jumping.
CRACKAWAY, STRETWALKIN and FLEXIBLE were all slowly away.
Leaving the 1200m DEGREES, when crossed by other runners, over reacted and lost considerable ground when it resented clods being thrown back.
Approaching the 1100m STEEETWALKIN shifted in and away from NOTABLE VICTORY causing both STREETWALKIN and MULTI MILLIONS to become unbalanced and make contact on several occasions.
Leaving the 600m INTESCA shifted in hampering MULTI MILLIONS.
Leaving the 500m, the tiring INTESCA was tightened for room between MULTI MILLIONS and FLEXIBLE, which was taken in by STREETWALKIN, which shifted in whilst racing greenly.
Jockey R. Goltz (CRACKAWAY) advised to exercise more care for allowing his mount to shift out abruptly leaving the 400m when avoiding the heels of STREETWALKIN and in doing so forced NOTABLE VICTORY to check.
Connections of STREETWALKIN, which raced greenly throughout and made both the 700m and 500m turns wide, were advised that a warning would be placed on that filly’s racing manners.

RACE 7: MELBOURNE CUP DAY TABLE BOOKINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1126M
The start was delayed whilst ROSMA was resaddled.
BELLAWINDI, ROSMA and CONDUIT were all slowly away.
GOTHIC JEWEL and STAR OF ALASKA raced wide throughout.
BELLAWINDI and ROSMA both made the home turn wide.
CONDUIT, which was held up from the 400m to approaching the 300m, was reported by the trainer to be sore in the near fore on return to scale. Trainer M. Webb was advised that a Veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the mare racing again.
App C. Bumstead (AFFAIR OF HONOUR) charged under rule AR145 in that she returned to scale 1kg overweight and fined the sum of $100.
