SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

JUNE 14-2007
Stewards today inquired into the reasons why Licensed Track work Rider Phoebe Norling rode track work on the morning of the 14th June without a safety vest. Miss Norling pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 87(b) and was fined the sum of $200.00.

RACE 1: RUBELLA LEATHER QTIS 2-Y-O MAIDEN H’CAP - 1000M.
1st – Russeting 2nd – Ninkasi 3rd – Room Two Sister 4th – Martiros

MARITOS (M Rice) was slowly away.

CORAL PEARL (B Appo) jumped out making contact with ROOM TWO SISTER (M Price) then shifted in making contact with the hindquarters of SLUGSBROTHERNUGGET (M Dorrington).

A Taylor, the rider of NINKASI, was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in shortly after the start tightening the running of DANCE TULIP (J Pujolas) and CAT DAZZLE (A Best), causing both horses to be eased.

Leaving the 800m, MARTIROS (M Rice), which commenced to hang, shifted out and was obliged to ease from the heels of MAJOR GAMBLE (J McKinnon).

Near the 700m, CAT DAZZLE (A Best) shifted out forcing DANCE TULIP (J Pujolas) wider on the track.

CRIMSON FIRE (S Apthorpe) which raced wide in the early stages then commenced to hang in from the 700m.

Stewards questioned A Best regarding the performance of CAT DAZZLE who stated that after being hampered at the start the horse was forced to race further back than he had anticipated and when he attempted to go forward to place the horse into the race he was forced to race wide and these factors he believed contributed to the horse’s disappointing performance. He further stated that he had suggested to the trainer to perhaps remove the blinkers for the filly’s next start.

DANCE TULIP (J Pujolas), CAT DAZZLE (A Best) and MAJOR GAMBLE (J McKinnon) raced wide throughout.

CORAL PEARL (B Appo), which hung out and raced greenly throughout, was inspected by the Veterinary officer who could find no abnormalities.

RACE 2: OPTUS BUSINESS DIRECT MAIDEN H’CAP - 1000M
1st – Mr Sequalo 2nd – Martellato 3rd – McQuilty 4th – Stormy Cruz

RAINBOW RAIDER (J McKinnon) jumped away awkwardly losing ground.

MARTELLATO (M Price) was buffeted at the start between MR SEQUALO (J Sharp) and IONA JUGAH (N Tomizawa) which shifted out.

BROADBEACH BABE (M Rice) was slowly away.

JOLEKA BEAUTY (S Apthorpe) was tightened for room at the start between GLAMAVALE (B Appo) and CASCADE TIGER (A Best).

MARTELLATO (M Price) and IONA JUGAH (N Tomizawa) were both inclined to hang in shortly after the start.

JOLEKA BEAUTY (S Apthorpe) hung out throughout the event.

RAINBOW RAIDER (J McKinnon) made the home turn wide.

Approaching the 200m STORMY CRUZ (K Yoshida) became awkward to the inside of MARTELLATO (M Price) which shifted in under pressure.

CHAKA CHAKA (K McCauley) which commenced to hang out from the 500m was examined by the Veterinary officer who could find no abnormalities.

RACE 3: OPTUS BUSINESS DIRECT MAIDEN H’CP - 1000M.
1stt – Countess Dehere 2nd – Sophie’s Tan 3rd – Bold Prediction 4th – Mr Blue Berry

WEROCKIT (M Rice) which reared as the start was effected, was further hampered when FAIRBOUCHE (I French) which jumped away awkwardly, shifted out.

SILENT SAINT (C Isdale) and BUDDHA BABE (J McKinnon) were both slowly away.

Approaching the 700m ARAKAWA (K McAuley) was forced to ease when tightened for room to the inside of GOLDSTROM (M Dorrington) which was taken in by SOPHIE’S TAN (C Pye).

Near the 600m ARAKAWA (K McAuley) shifted in making contact with the running rail.

SOPHIE’S TAN (C Pye) was held up for clear running near the 300m.

Near the 50m BUDDHA BABE (J McKinnon) became awkward when attempting a tight run between MR BLUE BERRY (K Yoshida) and JARHNNE (R Goltz) causing that runner to become awkward also.

FAIRBOUCHE (I French) raced wide throughout.

Post race Veterinary examination of JARHNNE (R Goltz) revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 4: SSS BBQ CLASS 3 H’CAP - 1000M
1st – Count Henry 2nd – Covet Gold 3rd – Icedane 4th - Seconde

At the start TIE ME UP (R Goltz) was tightened for room between SWEET JOSESHEE (A Best) and COVET GOLD (M Price) which shifted in.

SONGKURAI (S Apthorpe) and IN A WHIRL (K Yoshida) were both slowly away.

Near the 650m, IT’S IN HER EYES (M Rice) which improved onto the heels of SCISSILE (N Tomizawa), shifted in making contact with the running rail.

LAURIE’S LAD (W J Cook), MAHARISHI (H Hamada) and IN A WHIRL (K Yoshida) all raced wide throughout.

Near the 500m BLUBERRY STAR (M Dorrington) was forced to ease between IN A WHIRL (K Yoshida) and TIE ME UP (R Goltz) which shifted out.

Near the 400m, ICEDANE (S Drake) shifted out hampering COUNT HENRY (A Taylor).

IT’S IN HER EYES (M Rice) and TIE ME UP (R Goltz) were both momentarily held up for clear running near the 300m. TIE ME UP (R Goltz) blundered whilst being restrained in this incident.

Following the race trainer K Lewis (SONGKURAI) reported that in his opinion he felt the mare was sore in the nearfore. Stewards advised a Veterinary certificate is required for SONGKURAI prior to next racing.

RACE 5: LEN PATTI MITSUBISHI OPEN H’CAP - 1000M
1st – On Potential 2nd – Saint Angelo 3rd – Myagi 4th – Forever Amen

At the start ZOE’S LAD (A Lane) was tightened for room and lost ground between I DARED (A Taylor) which was forced out by LEATHER (J McKinnon) and RED OAKS (C Pye) which was forced in by CHAIN OF THOUGHT (A Best) which shifted in.

Jockey A Best (CHAIN OF THOUGHT) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for allowing his mount to shift in leaving the 800m causing tightening to I DARED (A Taylor) which was taken in onto LEATHER (J McKinnon), which was forced to check and lose ground. RED OAKS (C Pye) which was following, was also hampered in this incident. Jockey Best was suspended for a period of eight (8) meetings commencing midnight June 16, 2007 up to and including June 29, 2007.

FOREVER AMEN (M Price) hung out from the 700m to near the 500m.

Stewards questioned jockey J Sharp in relation to the riding tactics of MYAGI who stated that he was instructed to ride the horse forward as the horse had not been finishing his race off well from back in the field. Stewards intend interviewing trainer J Collins.

Trainer C Smith (ZOE’S LAD) was questioned in regard to the geldings disappointing performance and stated he felt the horse was at the end of his preparation and would now be spelled. Rider A Lane stated that the horse had travelled well during the event however failed to run on a expected when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race Veterinary examination of ZOE’S LAD revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 6: JEWELS OF THE RANGE CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200M
1st –Dance Hunter 2nd – Lea Maris 3rd – Mono Mac 4th – Right Spice

ZABLINK (P Wolfgram) was slowly away losing considerable ground. Trainer T Wolfgram was advised a barrier certificate is required for the gelding prior to next racing.

At the start, DODGE BALL (H Hamada) was tightened for room between GO GADGET (M Rice) and RIGHT SPICE (M Dorrington) which was taken out by BUCK’S DREAM (S Wright).

CLANG EDITION (A Best) jumped away awkwardly.

NATIVE NICK (J McKinnon) and FLYING TEST (J Sharp) were both slowly away.

Approaching the 1000m, BUCK’S DREAM (S Wright) was hampered across the heels of RIGHT SPICE (M Dorrington) by ROLLER DRUM (C Isdale), which shifted out.

Leaving the 800m, FLYING TEST (J Sharp) and DODGE BALL (H Hamada) were both tightened for room to the inside of ROLLER DRUM (C Isdale) which shifted in.

Leaving the 400m FLYING TEST (J Sharp) was held up for clear running before shifting out taking CLANG EDITION (A Best) wider on the track.

BUCK’S DREAM (S Wright) raced wide throughout.

RACE 7: AMALGAMATED PEST CONTROL CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1300M
1st - Ferrinko 2nd – Major Piercing 3rd – Reef Bonanza 4th – Aussie Sunset

TWO AND A KICK declared a late scratching at 8.45 a.m. Trainer L Richardson fined $100 for failing to scratch by the required time LR71(1).

SOUTH OF THE RIVER (B Appo), PICKASON (A Best) and PLEBEIAN (S Wright) were all slowly away.

JEROME’S STAR (M Dorrington) jumped away awkwardly losing ground.

BUCKSAMILLION (C Pye) over-raced throughout the event and was obliged to ease from heels near the 750m and again near the 600m.

PLEBEIAN (S Wright) and MAJOR PIERCING (M Price) both raced wide from the 800m.

Leaving the 600m PICKASON (A Best) raced with its head in the air for a short distance and lost ground.

REEF BONANZA (M Rice) was held up for clear running between the 400m and the 300m.

Jockey B Appo (SOUTH OF THE RIVER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he directed his mount out rounding the home turn to secure clear running forcing BUCKSAMILLION (C Pye) out onto the hindquarters of ONE FOR THE ROAD (A Winfield) causing BUCKSAMILLION (C Pye) to clip heels and blunder. Jockey Appo was suspended for a period of eight (8 meetings) commencing midnight June 16, 2007 up to and including midnight June 30, 2007.

Leaving the 200m MALITA (R Goltz) was disappointed for a run to the inside of JEROME’S STAR (M Dorrington) and was forced to check and shift out around that geldings heels to obtain clear running near the 100m.

Over the concluding stages SOUTH OF THE RIVER (B Appo) was tightened for room between ONE FOR THE ROAD (A Winfield) and REEF BONANZA (M Rice) which shifted out under pressure.

ONE FOR THE ROAD (A Winfield) raced wide throughout.

RACE 8: AMALGAMATED PEST CONTROL CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1300M
1st – Easily Done 2nd – Miss Indiana 3rd – Nagem 4th – Epicurean

Trainer N Owen (WONGA) - $200 – failing to enact transfer by prescribed time – AR175(k)

JUST A FREAK (C Pye), EPICUREAN (M Price) and O’CALLAHERN (K McAuley) were all slowly away.

Approaching the 1000m, AIRLINE EXPRESS (A Winfield) was forced to ease from the heels of BUT SAY (M Dorrington), which shifted out.

Leaving the 800m, EASILY DONE (A Taylor) shifted out to improve and raced wide for the remainder of the race.

JUST A FREAK (C Pye) and AIRLINE EXPRESS (A Winfield) both raced wide from the 750m.

Jockey N Tomizawa (IRISH ADVICE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for allowing his mount to shift in rounding the home turn whilst riding his mount forward causing MR MACDANAHER (A Best) to check and lose ground which caused MU MU DENMARK (K Yoshida) to check which in turn caused O’CALLAHERN (K McAuley) to check. Jockey Tomizawa suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings commencing midnight June 16, 2007 up to and including Midnight June 29, 2007.

RACE 9: A & G STORAGE SHEDS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1600M
1st – Mindil Beach 2nd – King’s Victory 3rd – Veils Double 4th – Hungry Eyes

Apprentice I French (DENMARK LANE) replaced Apprentice P Randall who was injured at track work.

BUNNY FOO FOO (D VanBekkum) withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 8.58 p.m. acting on Veterinary advice after the gelding dislodged the rider behind the barrier and made heavy contact with the fence prior to being caught. No deduction made from win and place betting.

JAB ‘N’ MOVE (K Yoshida) and ROSEBY (N Tomizawa) were both tightened for room at the start between MINDIL BEACH (M Price) and TIPSY TAHLOULA (S Richardson) which shifted in.

WALT (R Goltz) and DENMARK LANE (I French) were both hampered at the start by JUSSEMI (J McKinnon) which shifted out.

VEILS DOUBLE (W J Cook) blundered on the 1400m crossing.

EVERY WHICH WAY (M Dorrington) was forced to race wide during the early stages of the race.

HUNGRY EYES (A Taylor) and JAB ‘N’ MOVE (K Yoshida) raced wide from the 800m onwards.

JUSSEMI (J McKinnon) was badly held up for clear running from leaving the 500m to near the 200m.
