Race 1: COLLIERS INTERNATIONALS & SCHRIEK BUILDING GROUP QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 870M

G. Geran was incorrectly shown in the race book as the rider of PRINCESS BOOM when apprentice J. Orman had been engaged to ride that filly.

Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of EMMADEE and jockey S. Bogenhuber, the rider of KODAJET which dead heated for fourth, the opportunity to view the judges print. After viewing the print all parties were satisfied with the judges placing’s.

Correct weight was further delayed to afford B. Evans, the rider of 2nd placegetter AROUND THE MOON, the opportunity of viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner. After viewing the videos, jockey Evans indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

AROUND THE MOON – Slow to begin. Hampered near the 800m and was then inconvenienced near the 750m. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

TEEMOLTON – Slow to begin. Bumped the rail near the 750m, shifted out, made contact with another runner, became unbalanced and lost ground.

EMMADEE – Bumped near the 750m and became unbalanced.

KODAJET – Jumped in at the start and made contact with another runner. Bumped near the 500m.

MARAUDING’S GIRL – Raced wide throughout.

SWEET REPEAT – Apprentice B. Stower was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in near the 800m and again near the 750m, inconveniencing another runner.

PRINCESS BOOM – Bumped at the start. Laid out near the 500 and made contact with another runner.


Race 2: MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M

Correct weight was delayed to afford S. Apthorpe the opportunity of viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether COMMANDER BOLTZ had been afforded a fair start. S. Apthorpe was subsequently satisfied that his mount was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

HIT THE ROAD JACK – Laid in near the 400m making contact with the shoulder of another runner. Stewards reprimanded apprentice E. Ljung and advised her that she would be required to make greater effort in similar circumstances to prevent her mounts shifting ground. Inclined to lay in in the middle stages and laid in under pressure in the home straight.

RHIATENN ROAD – Overraced in the early stages. Contacted on the shoulder near the 400m, became unbalanced, then shifted out and had to be checked from heels.

MAJOR SHOWDOWN – Slow to begin.

FEYTALISTIC – Slow to begin. Steadied leaving the 500m and again when tightened for room approaching the 400m.

COMMANDER BOLTZ – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer K. Bolton was advised that she will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the horse prior to it being permitted to start again.

ROYALTOWN ROAD – Shifted in when commencing to weaken leaving the 500m and inconvenienced another runner. Apprentice R. Vigar was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 400m and advised to show greater care when his mounts are weakening and have a tendency to shift ground.


Race 3: MURDOCH LAWYERS 0-62 H'CAP – 1625M

SUPERCOACH – Trainer to interviewed regarding performance.

CLARENCE VIEW – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Saddle slipped forward approaching the 800m, placing the rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

WARP NINE – Raced wide from the 800m.

BURNOUT – Held up until a point near the 500m after improving onto the heels of a weakening runner near the 700m.

BOLD EMBRACE – Overraced with its head in the air from the 1500m until leaving the 1200m and got its head up when being restrained leaving the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Orman stated that his mount began quickly and when riding forward commenced to overrace in the early and middle stages despite his efforts. He added that the horse is best ridden with cover so it is able to finish its races off, however in his opinion because the horse did not settle, it failed to run out the 1625m of tonight’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 4: GARDEN FINANCIAL SERVICES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

MONTYMIGHTBE – Contacted on hind quarters approaching the 100m and became unbalanced.

ZAHA COUNTY – Raced wide throughout.

BLETCHY BOY – Shifted in abruptly leaving the 600m, made heavy contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Shifted out approaching the 100m, made contact with hind quarters and became unbalanced. Rider reported that the horse raced greenly for the majority of the event.

POOKIES GRIN – Bumped heavily at the start. Rider B. Evans was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account that jockey Evans’ actions did not materially affect his mount’s placing.

GO YOU GOOD THING – Shifted in at the start and made heavy contact with another runner.

FLASH MAGIC – Momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room near the 600m. Raced extremely wide rounding the home turn.


Race 5: HELLOWORLD BM75 H'CAP – 1100M

Stewards questioned trainer T. Sears as to the late nomination, acceptance and subsequent scratching of BOSS BURR. Whilst accepting Mr Sears’ explanation, Stewards reminded him of his obligations under LR38.

STARSTREAMED – Slow to begin. Rider B. Appo pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race and was fined $200. In assessing penalty, Stewards were not satisfied that jockey Appo’s actions had affected the horse’s finishing position.

NOVEMBER GREY – Improved up on to heels near the 700m and shifted out wider on the track. Rider C. Small was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

MORE OF THE ZAIM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this was first time in which the horse had bled, trainer S. Mcewan was advised that the horse would be ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.


Race 6: CREATE FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 2150M

AUBREY’S ACE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the home straight on the first occasion. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of his mount, G. Geran stated that after beginning awkwardly his mount was obliged to race further back in the field than he would have liked. He added that he was mindful that the horse has a tendency to race fiercely if pressured early. He further added that the horse tacked onto the back of the subsequent winner near the 1000m, however when the pace of the race quickened approaching the 600m, his mount failed to sprint and in his opinion, along with the impost of the 59 kilograms, the horse failed to run out the distance of tonight’s event.

ZIPS A DAISY – Improved onto heels approaching the 1400m when the pace of the race steadied and had to be restrained. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from one nostril. Trainer G. Hay was advised that the mare must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.
