SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
From ITC 13 January 2012 – Race 2: Stewards today inquired into the reasons for N. Yamada (NEW RANGER) being dislodged past the winning post. Jockey Yamada stated that whilst he recalled aspects of the race, he was unsure as to the reason for him being dislodged at the crossing near the 1500m, about 200 metres past the finish.
After viewing a replay of the race, jockey Yamada stated he believed that NEW RANGER, which was having its first start in a race, appeared to shy at the crossing and ducked in abruptly, resulting in him becoming badly unbalanced and being dislodged. Jockey Yamada was of the view that no other horse or rider was responsible for the incident. As a result, Stewards were of the view that the incident occurred solely as a result of his mount shifting in and therefore deemed the incident to be accidental.
Jockey Yamada was transported to hospital on the day, however was released that afternoon. Other than sustaining minor injuries, he hopes to be able to resume normal duties in the coming week. Jockey Yamada was reminded that he will be required to provide a medical certificate before resuming race riding commitments.
