Race 1: Jetstar Titans Members Benchmark 75 H'cap - 1000
1st – Gran Torino 2nd – Beachcomber 3rd – Before The Storm 4th – Amber Ale

Track temperature: 20 degrees celsius

BOARDIES (S. Drake), which was fractious in the barriers, reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground and trailed the field throughout. Trainer G. Cornish was advised that he would be required to provide a further barrier certificate for BOARDIES prior to its next race start.

WINDS OF FIRE (J. Letherby) was tightened for room at the start between BEACHCOMBER (G. Goold) and BREWER (D. Robinson), both of which shifted ground.

IMA JOKER (J. Johnson) and LONE ASSASSIN (K. Yoshida) were tightened for room shortly after the start between AMBER ALE (S. Bogenhuber) and BEACHCOMBER, which shifted in. G. Goold, rider of BEACHCOMBER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 550m LONE ASSASSIN was buffetted between IMA JOKER and AMBER ALE, both of which shifted ground.





Race 2: Titans Palladium Club Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Flammable 2nd – Tellinataimz 3rd – Itala Prince 4th – Sidada

Track temperature: 19 degrees celsius

Stewards accepted trainer G. Popp's explanation at for the late declaration of C. Eaton as the rider of RANGER HILL. Subsequently, C. Eaton was unable to fulfil her engagement on RANGER HILL due to transport difficulties and was replaced by R. Goltz.

SIDADA (S. Drake) was slow to begin.

ITALA PRINCE (D. Robinson) began awkwardly.

ISTAAR (N. Tomizawa) laid in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

FLAMMABLE (G. Goold), which hung out throughout, shifted ground when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 3: Jetstar Gold Coast Titans QTIS 2yo Maiden H'cap – 1100m
1st – Schweiz 2nd – Purest Haven 3rd – Ruling Miss 4th - Prefect

Track temperature: 15 degrees celsius

PREFECT (J. Brown) was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start.

STRUTTER (D. Robinson) began awkwardly.

STRIKE ORDER (G. Goold), HAY JEMMILY (M. Gray), PUREST HAVEN (K. Yoshida) and RULING MISS (J. Johnson) were all slow to begin.

BOLD NOVA (S. Drake) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with SCHWEIZ (N. Tomizawa).

FORETOKEN (G. Geran) and RED WARNING (A.Taylor) bumped on jumping away.

LAKE MOUNTAIN (J. Letherby) was bumped at the start by HAVEN QUEEN (R. Goltz), which was taken out by IT'S A SNIP (C. Maund).

FORETOKEN, whilst racing greenly in the early stages, was forced to steady to avoid the heels of LA FEMINA EXPRESS (S. Bogenhuber), which shifted in near the 800m.

Passing the 800m, STRUTTER and IT'S A SNIP (C. Maund) were tightened for room by PREFECT (J. Brown), which shifted in and away from SCHWEIZ, which was shifting in. SCHWEIZ then continued to shift in, tightening the running of PREFECT (J. Brown), IT'S A SNIP (C. Maund) and STRUTTER (D. Robinson), resulting in STRUTTER having to relinquish its position. N. Tomizawa, rider of SCHWEIZ, was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Near the 750m, STRIKE ORDER had to be steadied from the heels of RED WARNING.

Leaving the 200m, HAY JEMMILY was forced to steady and shift out to avoid the heels of HAVEN QUEEN.

A. Taylor, rider of RED WARNING, and M. Gray, rider of HAY JEMMILY, reported their mounts raced greenly throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of LA FEMINA EXPRESS failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 4: XXXX Gold Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Woolgar Road 2nd – Dr House 3rd – Forward Scout 4th - Rivalissa

Track temperature: 12 degrees celsius

The start of this race was delayed when the tongue-tie on RIVALISSA (R. Goltz) had to be refitted.

TRADITIONAL HEART (S. Bogenhuber), AUTHORITATIVE (D. Robinson) and LIADAIN (J. Letherby) were all slow to begin.

Near the 700m, RIVALISSA (R. Goltz) improved up on to the heels of BUTTERSCOTCH (P. Timbery) and had to be steadied.

LIADAIN (J. Letherby) hung out from the 600m and made the home turn wide.

D. Robinson, rider of AUTHORITATIVE, was reminded of his obligations in relation to his use of the whip in a forehand manner in consectutive strides prior to the 100m.

Race 5: Toowoomba Junior Rugby League Class 2 H'cap – 1625m
1st – White Phosphorus 2nd – Ellie La Vie 3rd – Vivaheart 4th - Artsecrets

Track temperature: 10 degrees celsius

ARTSECRETS (J. Kehoe) and GRAIN TRADER (J. Brown) began awkwardly.

COLUMBIAN STRIKE (J. Johnson) was slow to begin.

MOUNT ASPIRING (S. Drake) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 550m, ARTSECRETS attempted to improve to the inside of GRAIN TRADER where there was doubtful room and as a result was forced to be restrained and lost some ground.

When asked to comment on the performance of GRAIN TRADER, apprentice J. Brown stated she was forced to ride the horse along in the early stages in order to obtain a forward position. She added that during the middle stages of the race, GRAIN TRADER had a tendency to overrace and as a result, in her opinion, failed to respond to her riding from the 600m as she had anticipated and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of GRAIN TRADER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 6: Clydesdales Under 20 Colts Class 1 H'cap – 1625m
1st – Daads Order 2nd – Valentine Girl 3rd – Time For Indi 4th – Big Max

Track temperature: 10 degrees celsius

As J. Brown was ill after riding in Race 5, C. Small was substituted as the rider of CAPE VERSAILLES.

BIG MAX (S. Drake) ovrraced in the early stages.

VALENTINE GIRL (R. Goltz) was momentarily held up for clear running near the 500m.

DEGREE OF HONOUR, which bled from both nostrils during the event for the first time, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and will be requird to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.

When asked to comment on the performance of SET THE BAR, apprentice R. Ride stated that the filly only began fairly tonight and she was obliged to ride filly along in the early stages to obtain its customary forward position. Apprentice Ride added that SET THE BAR travelled reasonably during the middle stages of the event, and when placed under pressure from the 600m, failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. She further advised stewards that, in her opinion, something may have been amiss with its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of SET THE BAR failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Kemp undertook to advise stewards of any abnormality that may become apparent following the race which may have had a bearing on the performance of SET THE BAR today.
