STEWARDS: L Carvosso (Chairman), J Ross

Weather: Fine Track: Dead Rail: True

A prerace inspection of the track revealed that it had been well prepared and had stood up well to the recent rain. As the track was slightly damp at the 400 meters the rating was assessed as dead with a possibility of an upgrade after the first race. Track was upgraded to good after the running of the first race.

Fines: Apprentice C.Taylor $200 Excessive overweight

RACE: 1. Apprentice C.Taylor granted permission to ride Nero’s Dane 1.5 Kg overweight –No other suitable rider. Bold Grandeyes very unruly in the mounting yard. Lidodphere was moving backwards in the stalls at the jump and lost ground. Bold Grandeyes ran very wide on the home turn. Vizier raced greenly in the straight and tended to shift in. Osilet had to change course to obtain clear running last 200 meters. Time off 1.30 pm

RACE: 2. J.Kehoe replaced apprentice C.Taylor on Salinity (excessive overweight). Between the 600meters and 400meters Halley’s Kite (W.Orbell) moved in causing Kitchikan (P.Clarke) to have restricted racing room. Jockey Orbell cautioned. Kitchikan moved in under pressure last 70 meters causing General Merit (R.Hancock) to ease. Jockey Clarke reminded of has obligation to keep has mounted straight. Time off 2.05

RACE: 3. Permission granted for apprentice C.Taylor to ride Raw Star 2.5 kg overweight as no other rider was available. Trainer S.Iverson was advised of consequences of the future weighing of the horse should she wins or be placed. Can’t Remember (J.Kehoe) check off the heels of Who Am I first 300 meters. Can’t Remember was held up rounding the home turn. Time off 2.40pm

RACE: 4. Jockey P Clarke reported that the well supported Royal Thought traveled well to the turn but tried in the run home due to lack of race fitness.

RACE: 5. P Clarke replaced apprentice C.Taylor on Curlylambeau (excessive overweight) Time off 3.15 pm

RACE: 6. Apprentice C.Taylor dislodged from Gerry’s Gold on it’s way to the barriers. The horse was quickly caught and apprentice C.Taylor who sustained no injury remounted and the horse took its place in the field after a vet inspection. High Rewards was slow to jump. It was observed by the stewards that Limerick Lad which was coming back greatly in distance raced closer then expected, However the horse appeared to be restrained and get it’s head up. Trainer M. Hicks advised that the horse had been keen in track work during the week but he was very disappointed that the horse did not run on and he and rider P Clarke believed that the horse was overdue for a spell and will be turned out. Jockey Clarke said that the horse got his head up when steadied. Support for the horse was in line with normal stable betting and explanations were noted.
