RACE 1. WHK MAIDEN PLATE 825M

OUTBACK BETTY (S Apthorpe) jumped out at the start. Approaching the winning post OUTBACK BETTY shifted out.

Shortly after the start CHIVAS ON ICE ( N Nishio ) moved inwards dictating EIGHT MATCH WINNER (L Appo) inwards resulting in EVERYWHERE ( N Tomizawa ) having to steady his mount.

Appr B Newport reported that the saddle on MY LITTLE DAME slipped back causing the filly to race greenly and placed him in a position where he could not ride his mount out.

NIA MISS (Amy Taylor) hung out for the greater part of the race and took MISS MARBURG (J Orman) very wide on the home turn.

The starter reported that some welds had broken on barrier 1 and that barrier would not be used for any further races.


RACE 2 WARRA RACE CLUB PATON’S MAIDEN HCP 1200M

OARSOME LIL (B. Powell) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.

RUBIS (I. French) Jumped with its head in the air and was slow to begin.

BLUGIRL (W O’Connell) was not comfortable on the tight turning track and hung out throughout making the home turn very wide. This was bought to the attention of BLUGIRL’S trainer Mr B Park who was advised by stewards that the filly may be better suited to racing on larger tracks.


RACE 3 LOCAL BUSINESS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M

Approaching the home turn DESERT LAIR (D. McMaster) shifted away from the heels of the tiring SERBIAN SINGER (B Powell) which resulted in LE MAX ( L. Appo) being eased.

At the 160m LUCK FROM ABOVE (J Orman) had to ease his mount when DESERT LAIR to his inside moved outwards. At a subsequent enquiry into the incident Jockey D McMaster was reprimanded for allowing her mount to move out when not clear of LUCK FROM ABOVE causing that horse to be steadied.

Appr N Nishio the rider of LORD LION HEART was fined $100 under rule AR137(c) for a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.


RACE 4 WDRC WAMBO CUP OPEN HCP 1200M

STEPHEN GOT EVEN (A Guilleman) and IMA JOKER (J Orman) bumped on jumping away.

IMA JOKER was wide on the home turn.


RACE 5 LOCAL BUSINESS CLASS B HCP 1100M

IN MY FACE (S Fawke) blundered at the start.

CHILLDOWN (D McMaster) was held up for clear running at 100m.
