STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 6TH JULY, 2002


STEWARDS PANEL: J. BOON (CHAIRMAN), G. WUST

WEATHER –Fine TRACK – Good


RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP – 900 METRES (10 STARTERS)
Prior to the start ABROAD (D Whitmore) reared prior to the gates opening.
As the gates open ABROAD was slow to begin. Approaching the 650 metres EVER REGAL ( M Evans) was slightly hampered as a result of MIGHTY CUTE (S Quick) hanging out. Subsequent to being eased down over the final stages of the event, a Veterinary inspection revealed that ABROAD had sustained an injury to its near fore flexor tendon. Mr Fred Smith, trainer of ABROAD, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of soundness would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to start.

RACE 2: CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS)
MOORABOOL FLYER (L Timson) jumped outwards making contact with EXECUTIVE ROOM (G Evans).
Approaching the 650 metre mark CHESS PIECE (D Johnston) was slightly hampered as a result of MOORABOOL FLYER shifting in.

RACE 3: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
After becoming fractious in the barriers PEEPERS (L Timson) was withdrawn by Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 2:57 pm. All monies invested on PEEPERS where ordered to be refunded with deductions of 19 cents for the win and 16 cents for the place off the face value of all winning tickets.
WHATEVER IT TOOK (M Evans) and WAR DRUM (D Johnston) made contact on jumping.

RACE 4: CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1300 METRES (7 STARTERS)
SPLIT THE WIND (M Barnham) jumped awkwardly and veered outwards.
As the gates opened MUSTANG RULER (L Timson) and RITE TO SUCCESS (D Johnston) made contact.

RACE 5: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H’CAP – 1100 METRES (9 STARTERS)
Approaching the 650 metre mark MANAKWILA (S Quick) was obliged to steady when placed in restricted racing room to the inside of SCENIC GEM (T Mathieson) which shifted in.



ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
3 BOOKMAKERS FIELDED AT THE MEETING.
